Prefacing by Saying I love Ryan and KC, they are great guys.

If you build your reputation of making amazing tasting beer based on using the real ingredients to make your beer taste exaclty how it is descirbed. Then you substitute those fresh ingredients with basically adjunct or flavoring and that product does stand up to the original product. Are you not doing yourself and your business a disservice?

Last Snow a year ago was Fing amazing. Now not so much. MM I am not sure I will ever buy it again. I had it at the 1st anniv party and was lucky enough to get a Bomber last year. The new version is a shadow of its former greatness.

Of the mass produced distro beer the only one I think tastes the same is the Floridian.

I love FB and wish them all the luck in the world. I just hope they can fix this.

You and everyone else with Bonita bottles. Just praying they don't explode.

Look, nothing they ever bottle will live up to the lounge's original hype generating greatness. It's a combination of a bigger system, the fact that none of those brewers work there any longer, and rose tinted glasses.

Last Snow in the bottle was a great beer. Did it live up to the one on tap at the lounge's second anniversary? I don't think so, but that was so long ago and so much has changed who really knows?

Hit up the lounge though and you will get that quality again. The Nib Smuggler they just had on tap last week was...soooo good. You won't ever get those in bottles or growlers though, so sorry no trade value guys. But if you want to go there and actually enjoy the beer rather than trying to flip it for loons, just hit up the lounge.

They also had a Mango Ginger Berliner that was sooooo much mango, it was god damn perfect. But again, it's DONG, so you have to be in town.

Oakland has produced some awesome beers too, Nikolai Vorlauf was crazy good, like...yeah it was up there with the hype. Not bottled though, unless you count the member's only thing they offered but I didn't get to try that one.

Basically: The bottles haven't been amazing, but they still have shit on tap that is, it's just sporadic and the beers vary a lot from batch to batch. This was true long before they bottled anything, it's just how it is, but when the beers hit they fucking hit hard.

I doubt anyone outside of Florida will get the beers at that level though, since the lounge doesn't growler and oakland rarely growlers special stuff. Maybe one of the bottles will hit that level, but that haven't yet.

As long as they keep the quality level of their barrel program high I'm happy. I don't get down there often enough to taste the inconsistencies but I usually leave the Oakland location happy.

What were the high quality barrel program offerings? As far as I know Buffalo Trace was the only one that was high quality but I might not have had them all.
Muy Bonita, Triple Tripel, and Iron and Barleywine were not high quality.

prior to the fartiness/smells like a hooker issues, BA Muy Bonita was excellent!

Personally I preferred Fart Bonita, but I also grew up in San Francisco.

I had BA Muy Bonita on tap and it was delicious. I returned my bottles for fear of infection. Last Buffalo was amazing though. If that's a sign of things to come, my body is ready.

Ah ok. I wouldn't say that's a high quality barrel program though, that's a 50/50 with a chance of infection.

Yeah, you're right. When they get it right though the beers are damn good.

Funky Buddha should have taken the advice right in the name of the beer as for what it needed.
