Looking for a little insight here from the FB fans. I don't trade beers like many on this forum but a few times a year I meet up with a friend from out of state and we give a bunch of beers to each other from our respective states. This past year we didn't get to meet up as planned so the big beer swap is currently scheduled for September. My question is on the Funky Buddha releases like Last Snow, Maple Bacon, Last Buffalo, Morning Wood, Strawberry Shortcake, Muy Bonita, Don't Tell Reece and the other small batch series bottles. I know FB recommends drinking fresh on all these beers, but some of these have been sitting for 6-9 months now. I'm assuming the Last Buffalo and Morning Wood will still be excellent, but was curious what some of you guys thought on the lower gravity beers. I'm guessing that the main flavors could have dropped off a bit, but was mainly wondering if any of you thought that there would be too much of a decline in quality in some of the other beers. All beers have been stored in a dark pantry with cold AC. I'd hate to give a beer that was a shell of what it once was. Thanks in advance for any insight.
From my experiences, last snow & mbcp hold up pretty well. Last buffalo has fallen off, as @Jarnet87 stated, buuuut... it's still pretty good if you think of it as Buffalo Trace ale, as opposed to coffee & coconut. Don't tell Reece has probably fallen off as well. Not really familiar with muy Bonita or strawberry shortcake.
I concur with the guys above, I have had almost 1 year old Last Snow, and have had 2 year MBCP. some obvious fading on the latter, but still enjoyable. It sounds like i need to drink my last buffalo, i still have one from the release. I didn't get strawberry shortcake or Muy Bonita the last time they came through, can't speak for how they age.
I wonder how the anniversary Gose will hold up. Still have 3 bottles so I'm sure I will accidentally age at least one
