Fellow BAs! My wife and I are traveling to Florida from Philly next week and our itinerary between Orlando and Miami includes a stop at Funky Buddha. We've never been and plan on visiting on a Wednesday afternoon. Only beer I've ever tried is MBCP which was ridiculous! What should I know or be prepared for ahead of time? Brewery only taps? Food/kitchen? Looking for a late lunch and tasty brews. Thinking about bringing some Tired Hands and Heady Topper to bestow upon the staff. What's the experience like? Any info is greatly appreciated. Cheers
They usually only have a couple guest drafts. They do have a full kitchen now. If you happen to be here on 2/28 here the tap list: Tap List will include: Maple Bacon Coffee Porter, Gimlet (Gin Barrel Aged Cucumber Imperial Saison), Bonita Applebum, Nib Slip (Imperial Nib Smuggler), No Crusts, Neapolitan, Fire in the Hole, Last Snow, Blueberry Cobbler, Imperial Chocwork Orange, Wide Awake It's Morning, Nelson Sauvin Dry Hopped Iron and Barleywine, BA French Toast, BA Snowed In, Love Below, Dread Pirate, BA Gruit, BA Mango Tripel, Mexican Coffee, Mango Small Axe.
Pretty straight forward man. Check online, their draft list "Currently on Tap" is pretty accurate. They won't have MBCP but it's highly likely you can get some Last Snow (coconut coffe porter) which is really good and No Crusts (PB&J). Get a flight and try a few other brews as well. They have some bottles for sale (Nikolai Vorlauf, Iron & Barleywine, Nib Smuggler, etc) so maybe grab some of that if you like them on draft. Their food is ok, menu is very limited. You'd be better off grabbing some food from the surrounding area and bringing it to the taproom. I'd recommend Primanti Bros which is on Oakland Park on the drive in. They have great sandwiches. You can also have food delivered there from a variety of restaurants, or there may be a food truck on premise
Next Wednesday you will be in for a treat, they have an event with Dogfish and the founder Sam Calagione will be there. Check out the link below to see where you can find MBCP on tap while you are in the area. Just FYI I've seen signs at FB prohibiting bringing in outside alcohol, you may be able to bring it to them for later consumption, but just make sure it goes to the right people since some of them are simply servers and might not appreciate what you are bringing. https://funkybuddhabrewery.com/news-and-events/blog/maple-bacon-coffee-porter-tour-2016
That is one hell of a tap list. Is that just something that goes on during the day inside the brewery or do they set up an area like during their bigger events, saw that it mentioned tap times. I love going to Funky Buddha, my favorite brewery in South Florida. It's a really big place, has good service, and most importantly great beers. Lots of seating room all over. The tap list is usually up to date as Steban said. Their core beers are solid, but it is the beers outside of the core where they excel. I liked their food but there are some good places to eat around the brewery too.
That dry hopped iron and barleywine is so good! And Dread pirate, and BA French toast I'm going to need an uber home from this one
