Today me and the girl friend visited The Benedictine Brewery in Mt.Angel OR. I had forgotten it was up and running and we went to visit the beautiful monastery.but saw it on the way up. Fantastic location, overlooking the fecund valley..and coppices..nicely constructed in a modern monastic style. Only 3 beers but all were well above average. The Black Habit being great. Sfter that we travelled to Silverton..to the downtown area which is a simple 1950s style pleasure nowadays..all alive and restored. ate Macs Place..they had Boneyard RPM for $3.50..and great pub food. Then on to Silver Falls Brewery again a lovely modern lodge type building with a great patio were music was being played. Damn i love this time in my life.
Very cool. Glad to see good times can be had outside the urban centers. I prefer smaller places to enjoy good beer and food. I'll have to check that area out. Bend, is quickly turning into a giant tourist trap. And my forays into Portland, have become less frequent. (if the big quake hits while I"m there, I don't want to be forced to eat hipsters...ewww.)
Hit Astoria on Friday with the kids and dog. Has probably been about 25 years. Buoy is a top 3 brewery location in the state. Right on the water with sea lions hanging out below . Gorgeous ! Ft George also kicks ass. Rooftop bar with views of the water and bridge
