Last week I purchased a 12pk of Lagunitas Pils, man is that some good ol' Saaz flavor / aroma!!! What's confused me is the OG (1.050) vs. ABV (6%). Doing the math this beer would need to finish at 1.004 for the ABV to work out. Seems WAY too thin and unlikely with a lager yeast alone, 92% apparent attenuation. What have I missed?

Yeah, that would be really dry for a pilsner. Where did the OG and ABV numbers come from?

OG is on the 12pk box and ABV is on the bottle.

Interesting. I've never had this beer, but have had (and brewed) a lot of Czech pilsners. Something seems off.

Their IPA makes a lot more sense, 6.2% on bottle and 1.059 on box, if I recall right.

Maybe the unwatered down version is at 6%, while the watered down version has a calculated OG of 1.050.

Wait... no.... maybe I'm getting this confused with Budweiser.

I've noticed lagunitas numbers always seem screwy to me. Brown shugga has 75%aa with a FG of 1.025. That seems reasonable. Then sucks finishes at 1.027 with a 68% AA ( a beer that doesn't seem to have that big of a FG) but okay, I believe them, whatever. Cappachino Stout is always the one that I can't believe. FG of 1.006 or 1.007 depending on the bottle with 91-92% AA

It's all over the board with those guys. I have heard that they use a lower attenuating English strain and mash super hot for hoppy beers so I can see maybe the sucks and brown shugga numbers being correct but Cappacino stout seems like it can't be correct. Has a lot of body!!

I never noticed the math on the pils but I agree. It's nice and definitely has a substantial body. Maybe if it was a super light and crisp German pils I could believe those numbers but I've drank a lot of yang beer and the numbers do seen off also.
