This article discusses the "state of the union" of craft beer in America... thoughts? http://gearpatrol.com/2015/03/11/the-state-of-american-craft-beer-2015/
An interesting take, but one that I think continues to actually miss a few very big realities in craft beer. The most important being that "love", "soul" and "passion" do not equal good beer. There's a brewery here in Cincinnati staffed by guys who love beer through and through, but their beer sucks. On the other hand, people would argue that Goose Island is now a soulless corporate automaton and they make some world class beers. I'm totally cool with somebody who is just looking to sell out and make enough barrels to make $X because the only way they will reach that point of profitability is either to make great beer or be able to sell ice to eskimos (both are impressive skills). I'm tired of the "drink local" movement, because there's a lot of crappy local breweries who are limping by and need to go out of business to allow the people who are successful room to grow.
