So I am trying to complete a vert of FW anniversary stuff and am only missing 13- got offered a bottle 1:1 with V014. I know V014 is trading high, and prob higher after more reviews come out- but does this seem fair to ya'll on my end? I know theres many ways to view the trade- but I just want to make sure this makes sense to someone who is unbiased... thanks in advance for the help!
It seems like the difficulty you're facing boils down to that there aren't a ton of FW XIII bottles out there but there also isn't a lot of demand for the beer, and that combination makes it very hard to assess its trade value. I would say it comes down to asking yourself whether completing the set is worth giving up the V14. I'd think about it in terms of what you're gaining (i.e. a complete vertical), rather than bottle-for-bottle.
Honestly, I think it's a good trade. I tried for a while to get one for "fair value" and failed. A kind-hearted BA sent it to me and asked for nothing back so and I ended up sending him a bunch of stuff. With shipping cost both ways and beers, while I was happy to finally got my XIII, it worked out to quite a bit more than $40 and I still feel a little indebted.
Thanks guys! I would agree with all of the above. I feel good about it- I just wanted someone else to confirm what I was thinking. I appreciate the feedback.
yeah i was actually up there for FW invite and they had at $130- i thought that was ridiculous so I walked away. I like what Stone does and raises the price $1-$2 every year.... again thanks for the feedback.
@ryanlisk I have a 13 I'd consider moving if you didn't commit to this trade yet. Have a FT or cellar list? Shoot me a message
@_morandi_ thanks for your message. wish I would have seen this earlier but i have an IP trade set up for tomorrow- appreciate reaching out tho!
@Skunkdrool yeah man i stop in frequently. i don't agree with the price inflation of the anniversary stuff- but its just one persons opinion. I like the way stone does it in $1-$2 increments- then again, you are comparing apples to oranges as far as output and brewing capacity. End of the day- just stoked to try some beer ive never had before! Cheers
