This seems to age great. I wasn't too big of a fan of this when it first came out mainly because the flavors were all over the place. Now it seems firmly focussed around toastiness, caramel, and raisin. Open one up if you got it.

Agreed, I think it's drinking much better now than fresh. The Double Jack portion of the blend stuck out like a sore thumb back when it was fresh.

    This is good news.

Agree! This is drinking so damn good right now. It has really integrated and the double jack has faded. Rich caramel, toffee, and barrel. Glad I was patient with my bottles.

I just drank my 14 and have one 15. The 14 was one of the best beers I've ever tasted, so I am excited for the 15.

My dad was just at the brewery store picking up some things. He called me and I asked him to ask for older anniversary's. The gal told him that they are no good and meant to be consumed within 60-90 days. Wtf?

Had both the 15 and 16 on tap a few weeks ago and thought the 15 was fantastic. Can't wait to open my bottle of 16 in a year or two!

Open 16 now, it will never be drinking better than it is today.

I'm probably going to do the 13-16 vertical on my birthday in June.

I had my 14 and 15 two weeks ago, the same night. I was blown away at how incredible they both were. Wish I had more.

Awesome! I'm going to a bottle share in a few weeks and someone is bringing a bottle. I never got to try it fresh, can't wait to try it aged.

Definitely agree with the OP. Had it fresh and then had it four months later and it was greatly improved. I have to imagine it has only gotten better since then. The barrel and the barleywine components really started to shine through much better. I had it a year a couple months ago as well and preferred it again over fresher.

Do you say that because you don't think FW anniversary ages well or specifically the 16 is drinking best compared to prior vintages fresh?

XVI is so damn good fresh, if you have only one bottle no need to chance it. I've drank a little over a case of XVI so far and my motto is, if it's drinking amazing rate now why not just enjoy most of them now?

I've done a recent vertical 12-16 and while 12 was god awful, 13 was good, 14 very good, 15 good and 16 the best.

They aren't hard to trade for so you might as well enjoy it now. If you like it and want to age one to compare hit me up and I'll trade you one for some Chicago shelf beers.
