It seems to be popping up in a few of the usual early spots around the city. Anyone see it anywhere in the burbs? Must get some to keep my streak going of opening one on my birthday every year. (Which actually leads to another question ... anyone else have any beers that are "event rituals" for you?)
We have "Christmas movie night" every December with another family, and always watch Christmas Vacation and then a variable Christmas movie ((Elf, Grinch, etc) ... anyways me and the other guy always bring out our vintage BCBS and variants for that night. It's probably the highlight of every December for me. Can't wait for this year - probably a '13 prop or Cherry Rye from my end.
I am hopeful that like Parabola there will be several "waves" of this in the new 12oz format. I noticed that my local as well as many other places seemed to get quite a good bit of Parabola and if you wanted to pick up a couple bottles this year, it wasn't hard. I assumed Bravo just sat because nobody wanted a brown ale but there was definitely a good amount of that as well.
I think you're right to be hopeful. Considering Stickee Monkee sat around for weeks last year (to the point where I even got sucked into buying one) and with this year's Parabola being so available, I'd say it'll be easy to find SM this year.
Beer Cellar in Glen Ellyn had a few yesterday and I was able to snag one, but they're gone now. Haven't seen it anywhere else so far.
Since the speculation is that this won't fly off shelves I'll mention that I saw this at the service counter at Binnys Downers Grove last night. Happy hunting!
