Came up on a bottle of FW XI w/ box and paperwork. I've had it before, long ago, and enjoyed in immensely. Having had a X and a XII recently, I think I might pass this bottle on to someone who might enjoy it more (vertical junky type people).

Two things, though. I heard this bottle was falling off through word-of-mouth type vehicles, but the reviews say it's holding up fine. Second, I am unsure how well this was cellared, as it wasn't in my possession, and don't want to be "that guy" shipping off a terribly oxidized bottle. I have had other beers from the same cellar that have been fine, for what it's worth.

At that, has anyone traded or traded for this beer recently? I don't really know what the market for this bottle is nor do I really want anything in particular at the moment. Rather than throwing up an auction-type ISO:FT, here I am.

That's your problem right there. You are trying to play the market, and creating an auction thread, disguized as a "what does it go for, what does it take" type of thread, because we all know these threads are amazing.

Make it simple, say you have the beer FT, and you are ISO: Beers you like.

IMO, this is the kind of beer you either trade for shelf stuff, or just send it as an awesome extra to somebody. You found it randomly, you've already had it, and it's a fantastic gift regardless of whether it is good or bad.

Think of how bad you'd feel if you traded it for something incredibly rare and your bottle ended up being awful because it was stored in a 90 degree attic for 5 years.

Another fun way to do it is to just LIF it or trade it for a "beer to be named later". After the person drinks it, have them send you what they thought it was worth.

OP, I'd be interested in this, and I can hit a couple of your wants in addition to some beers that should be wants based on your wants. Let me know.

Post up a FT: FW XI ISO: Surprise me

Pick a long time reputable trader and you will more then likely be stoked. It's fun.

Lesson one: do not draw attention to the fact that a beer you are about to trade has fallen off.

Lesson two: trade this beer it has fallen off.

I opened my last bottle last month. It was cellared at 55 since release day. It was bad. It was bad 2 years ago. It's gotten worse. Unless it's been stored at 33 degrees it most likely sucks, unfortunately. Even then it probably sucks.

Had an XI just a few days ago Monday. It held up fine and tasted pretty darn good. Certainly can't speak for everyone, but the bottle we shared was perfectly fine.

Well how do you like that.

Has FW XI been noted for having prominent bottle variation?
