Uncle owned a bar in upstate NY many years ago...helped out a few times running cases when we visited when i was young. I remember grabbing a few of these and smuggling them home as I thought the label was cool. Turns out after all these years I still have one .... tucked in a box and forgotten. never opened ... and I still think the label is cool...
Yes, nicer than the ones used on the bottles I had in the earlier in the '80s, like: Not sure what year Matt's started doing the Holiday beers. They obviously pre-date the Saranac line, and came a short time after Matt started brewing the east coast's first contracted "craft" beer for the Old New York Beer Co., "New Amsterdam Amber Beer" in 1982. IIRC, the Holiday beer was very similar to NAAB.
I have an old one from them that, at first glance, looks like plain gold. But when held at the right angle, "Matt's" appears...
