Saturday is a fun day to wander and try random beers nobody has ever heard of. Occasionally you'll stumble upon some gems.

Anybody know of good events/tappings going on throughout the week? Is there a good place to see what's going on or do I need to look at each breweries website to see if they are doing something in Denver? Figure it is a few weeks out so we should start seeing stuff pop up soon.

Thanks man, I guess Freshcraft and Falling Rock will get some of my money that week.

Has anyone been to the FFF event at Lowdown in the past? Does it get crazy busy? I live very close to the brewery but have a ticket to GABF that same night and wouldn't be able to get over to Lowdown until the last hour or so of the event. Their FB page says the event is from 5-11 but does the beer actually last that long?

Wishful thinking huh? Not a huge deal cuz I lived somewhat close to FFF so I've had my fair share. I was hoping to get a pint or 2 at the event but I guess I'll have to settle for some sample pours at GABF.

To be fair, I haven't been to a FFF event like that here, but every time I've been to GABF they are out of just about everything really fast, faster than a lot of other similar sized breweries with similar demand/lines

FFF and New Glarus both typically run out super quickly. Both have lines/demand, but they also tend to bring very little, too. I think NG tries to ration everything so they have fruit bottles for every session. FFF...no clue what their strategy is. Might as well save some $ and not have a booth.

I'm pretty sure they are taking that advice this year.

FFF is not going to be at GABF proper this year. :/

I'll get to try the exact same number of beers from them that I usually do then. At least in the last 5-6 years.
Last year their team was audi 5K in something like an hour. That was Thursday, too.

For those who do NOT live in CO here are some of my picks for local beers that you should try, that are somewhat "under the radar" and/or have local distro only. Obviously I'm going by the list of breweries that are attending as of 9/13.

Odd13- check out the hoppy and sour beers from these guys
    Weldwerks- good beer all around
    Black Bottle- interesting/different beer
Denver Beer- Hoppy or Dark for these guys
    Comrade- Hoppy
    Broken Compass- Coconut Porter
Horse and Dragon - Sad Panda
River North - any of the Barrel-aged stuff
Melvin- not from CO but mostly here locally, hoppy beer!
4 Noses- Hoppy beer, malty stuff too
    Cannonball Creek- Hoppy beer
    Verboten- strange/different styles
    Elevation- Belgian style and more
    Dry Dock- Pretty much anything
    Black Project - Sour/wild/funky

@Dan_K you forgot to mention Zwei for the greatest lagers in the land and Black Project for awesome wild fermentations :grimacing:

Now we need a running list for those of us in CO who are looking for sought after, potentially new breweries from out of market to try....

I nominate Great Notion and Bottle Logic

I was going to add Black Project and forgot (but now I did). I can't add Zwei because I haven't tried 'em yet!

    I also forgot to add:
Bull and Bush- potentially awesome stuff way under the radar

As for NOT local stuff, here's a few dark horse stuff for you to check out.

    Prison City, NY
    Foolproof, RI
    Night Shift, MA
    Lickinghole Creek, VA
    Hops and Grain, TX

The rest of my choices I'm keeping to myself haha.

Speaking for WA and OR, I'd put pFriem, Sunriver, and Reuben's on your radar if they aren't already.

The Bull & Bush booth tends to be a lot of fun (they dress up with a theme) and they always bring at least a couple rare and/or barrel-aged items. With a little luck, some might be on at the pub that week, too.
I've rocked a B&B name badge for the last couple years.

I suggest the Dr. Bill bottle share if he is still doing it. The year I went, it was amazing... An authentic bottle of Yellowbus showed up, Veritas 5 and too many other rarities to mention.

Also, brave the line at Snooze and get a good breakfast at least once.... The peaches and cream pancakes were amazing.
