Definitely check out Swamp Head. Probably would be my only stop if I was short on time. If I were you, I would begin the day at First Magnitude, it is a local brewery that does not distribute yet, but they are open early on the weekends and have a noteworthy IPA called Ursa. It is a very easy drink, they also have a pretty awesome sour that they have on tap pretty regularly. Swamp Head doesn't open until at least 4 and is closed on Sunday and Monday, so keep that in mind. They also close at nine but they just built a new brewery and tap room that are worth the visit (if you go on a Tuesday they do tours, it is five dollars and you get a free draft). After that, if you make it out in time, you should stop by the local beer store called Tipples. That way you can bring home some of the local brews and give them to friends back home.

 

Grab some Jai Alai, they probably have it up there

 

Swamp Head's new site is out by the interstate, and it is very cool. Medium sized brewery with good beer, so try everything. Bottled Morning Glow is my favorite of their limited releases, so grab one if it there. All this praise hurts me, as a Nole, but it's all true. First Magnitude is in towards downtown and is pretty solid. The Tube is my favorite beer I've had from them. There was a little outfit called Alligator Brewing that was housed in a brewpub as well, but I cannot remember what it was called.

 

basically ill just echo what everyone else has said: swamphead has cool new digs and some solid staples. first magnitude near downtown is really starting to hit their stride and making new stuff all the time. if youre just going out to bar hop, try house of beer and tall paul's, both downtown. tall paul's is the place @ZMWTally was talking about that houses Alligator Brewing. if you want a good burger and a solid taplist, go to The Top, which is downtown as well. might be a wait if you're there on the weekend, but it's worth it.

 

Second all of the above advice...hit First Magnitude on the east side of town, grab a bite/beer downtown afterwards, then hit up SwampHead, which depending on the day of the week will have a food truck out front. Check their web sites as SH is closed on Sunday and Monday. Cheers from Gainesville!

There very well could be. Picked up 4 cans (2 pp at 2 different stores today), but both were running low. I'm going to Tampa this weekend and can try to pick you up some WOJA if you want to trade then.
