I was able to get 2 bottles last year, and it is very good. I was hoping to get it this year but work got in the way, Damn .

When a brewer releases a popular beer like this with a 6 bottle limit does that mean not only will it go fast, but they can count their profit that much quicker?

Couldn't they order cans with the correct label? Or would it be too costly since its only released once a year? I am sure they order pallet upon pallet of DC, Overale, etc.

It would likely be too costly. There might also be a minimum order quantity to deal with.

Another consideration is that they probably don't have enough space to let pallets of empty cans sit around in between batches of GDDC.

I've heard the same thing, but more likely it has to do with the fact that they can charge upwards of 50% more per ounce by putting it into 22oz bombers instead of pint cans....and it still sells out in a matter of hours.

Yeah, they certainly don't have any motivation to can from a profitability standpoint.

From my slight knowledge on the subject, the minimum order numbers aren't too bad. Most order much more then the min due to cost of 100K vs. 10K. Ever seen the massive amount sitting around the production brewery of Rev? A usual minimum order is about 10K cans, which equates to about a 40BBL brew. I think they got a 50BBL system (or is it 20?) so one batch would have been the min number of cans but again it costs twice as much when you order the min. But at the end of the day Nate's right, you can make a ton more if you put it in a bomber at twice the $/oz.

I don't care about cost, I just want a bomber or two

Just had a glass of the GDDC at the taproom. Very nice, and I was glad I was able to try this year's iteration. Also, I was told by the HA bartender that what's on tap surely won't last through the weekend. (He didn't even manage to get himself any bottles this year, as he wasn't working on release day.)

Tried the GDDC as well as the Navaja at the taproom this past weekend, and I honestly preferred Navaja immensely. For what it is, Galactic Double is terribly unbalanced IMO, while Navaja is much more hop-forward despite being higher in ABV.

haha. i think i might give it another year? i guess it was at a time where i purchased my allotment, had no space in the fridge, tossed it in a cabinet. as more beer was purchased it got pushed to the back. i just saw it a few weeks ago. we'll see.
i think it's at least 3 years old. i forget when they last launched the label with the spanish text as i've only bought the canned Galactic stuff, bottled galactic and the regular double daisy with the darker blue sky, bomb on it's back on an island.[IMG]

Yeah, pretty sure May 2010 was the first time DDC came out.
