The problem though is half acres math was way off. I heard the same thing while I was in line "if everyone buys four ahead of you, there won't be any left when the line gets here". When I actually got inside, there was 5+ cases in the fridge as well as the 2 cases on the floor. And to be fair, many of the people around me did not buy their full allotment. The staff was going up and down the line giving out free samples... Really don't think there was any lack of advocacy... At least while I was there.

It's cool that the staff was giving out samples!

Yeah, the samples were a nice touch. What did everyone think of the beer? I thought it was a little rough.

p.s. sorry about letting out that 'impregnate your wife' 'and her friend' crack in line... sometimes we are overly ambitious =p

(meant to be light-hearted sarcasm in reference/directed to RobGutie's earlier post, not serious just in case =p, and that's ridiculous/absurd that anyone would say that to you in the first place)

Pipeworks, if I had known it was you I would have at least encouraged her friend to think it over.

I think it's fantastic. One of, if not my favorite, pale ale around.

Curious what it would take next time this is released for the stuff to sit for a while before selling through. $12.50/bottle? $14.99/bottle? Limit two bottles? When you have people getting in line because they see a line, I just don't know anymore.

You send more to distro, you cut into your bottom line. Don't see that being a viable option until these releases get "out of hand" (out of hand being a subjective term of course).

If the goal is to sell through as fast as possible to get the brewery back to normal operations, then keep as is. If goal is to allow for the most amount of people to get the stuff, make it two bottles and allow for a more relaxed release (i.e., people don't "have to take off" early on Friday, wait in line 30-45 minutes, etc.). No clear answer, that's for sure.

i've been buying their double's for that same price for years so if they increased the price, as you mentioned, i'd definitely cut back on buying my allotment or all of it. If galaxy hops were of shortage, i understand the price increases. I'd then probably by my full allotment (it doesn't help that these releases always land on payday :sunglasses:)

Heck, the only reason i picked up some GDDC was because i was in the neighborhood for work. I wouldn't have made the trek otherwise as it's out of the way for me.

To answer your question about the price increases in general and not just HA specifically, it's the reason i stopped purchasing 3 Floyd's special releases, for me, it's gotten absurd. (doesn't include DLD because that would make me a hypocrite and lose my metal cred)

It's funny when I see people complain about price. I mean if it's too expensive for you then don't buy so I get a chance to buy it.

By dumb luck I was in Chicago for a wedding and was at Half Acre to grab some bottles. I have one extra if anyone is still looking and wants to trade. Send me a message.

just thinking (typing?) out loud here...isn't a Friday nooner release a big step toward reducing the craziness? I know to not underestimate the motivated beer geek (myself included), but what's next? 2-bottle limit Tuesday releases? lol
