Just found this in the liquor store in northern MN and can find no info on it....bought several singles to try but haven't yet.....what is the deal with this brewery? Contract brewery?
Im guessing its one of the following- Another brand put out by Sprecher ala Chameleon Brewing- http://www.chameleonbrewing.com/ Contract brewed by Sprecher So, one person's opinion should decide whether or not a beer is worth talking about?
Ratebeer shows it's in MN, they do have a twitter account that states WI, It might be Spercher, I can find out tomorrow, they are also on untappd but no real information. here is a link for one of there beers http://barleypopmaker.info/tag/game-on-brewing/ I will say if Sprecher is brewing this it's just another feather in the cap for why I don't like them.
Dude did you read the part in the original post where I wrote "bought several singles to try but HAVEN'T YET"...I will in due time but will need to add the beer to the site and right now I have no info to do that so YOU can decide based on my one review whether the beer is worth it or not"....settle down and get a grip
Looks like this is brewed at Sprecher..I have four singles in all to review....won't go to the trouble of adding them to the data base as I don't have enough info but will add thoughts here in case someone searches in the future.... First effort....Pale Ale...Here is a brief overview.....no hops...cheap worty malt load that lacks refinement...some caramel obviously....lacks flavor overall though so no cloying notes or anything but just overall a real lackluster, poor pale ale....not going to score it officially on this site but on a 1 to 10 I give it a 2...at best a 3......no hops at all noticeable..just not good..
Tried to edit the other reply but I was timed out and lost all my thoughts as I tried to enter it...in short... Second effort: Maibock....not as bad as Pale Ale but again a cheap malt feel...not sure if it is materials or brewing methods but this reminds me a lot of the old Cold Spring fake micro crap of a few years ago although not as bad as the Jeremiah James lines...1-10 this is a 3....better than the Pale Ale but also has a slight spoiled egg smell to it I remember from the JJ lines...probably more of a 2.5 effort..
Third Effort....Black Lager.. little aroma at all from the pour except for some very faint bunrt malts......it is black...nothing off so far....nothing exciting but nothing off....time to take the plunge and drink it......well....well...this is actually passable...tastes like a top 100 beer compared to the first two...nothing off....some nice creamer laden coffee with a a slight sweet sugary taste....this is pretty good the more I drink it....nothing off...almost a slight bourbon note...I'd drink this one again for the right price....way better than Mich Amber Bock and that sort....1-to-10...I give it a 6..(gonna set this aside for now and pour the last one to wrap this up)
Fourth and Final Effort: Amber Lager...poured a bit frothy like the Pale Ale...an ominous sign perhaps?? Settling down though to about a 1/4 inch head...aroma is again cheap malts but more subtle....some spoiled eggs as well...taste is nondescript which is probably a good thing...that means no off notes...a slight sweeter candied caramel note but also some nasty sour notes......nothing great here and again it has the spoiled eggs aroma which enters into the equation. 1-to-10...I give it a 2.5 and would not buy again even if at $5 a case because of the spoiled egg smell which really wrecks the whole thing. Overall thoughts on Game On:AVOID...I kind of liked the Black Ale but who knows maybe I got the only good bottle.....or more likely the style of that didn't allow the flaws to show as much... Bottom Line...I no longer care where this is brewed and by who....I have no idea why this showed up in northern MN all of a sudden...my guess is a sell off of some product from a pseudobrewery that no longer exists...the place that sold this also brought in Tyranena Painted Ladies in May and INSISTED it was fresh....thus my skepticism on this line.....what a waste of time...with so many quality new beers out there why do we have to deal with product like this?
