I live 41 miles south west from Woodbrigde CT. GB is very tough to get around me. You literally have to walk into a liquor store and ask someone if they have it. They DON'T put it on the shelves. I mostly get laughed at and turned away. Some of the stores are really cool and just advise me to keep checking back. My first can was from a buddy who got fortunate a couple of times over a period of a year Occasionally a pizza place that has 52 craft beers on tap will have it and had a growler fill from NEB on the way back from a business trip in Boston.

Last night I had a meeting in a town that is 16 miles from NEB. I had 10 minutes to spare before the start of the meeting and saw a liquor store in a strip mall. So I took a shot. Walked in, went to the cooler, didn't see anything, so I asked a guy if they had it. He had to check with someone else. The guy turns around and says grab him one. SCORE. I was pumped, start chatting up the guy behind the counter, sounded like the owner. Went through how he gets limited supply etc. etc. Put the 4pk down and he says it comes to $20. My face must have turned white as a ghost. He gave me the story that is what NEB makes them charge. The fact that I have never gotten lucky before to find a 4pk, I needed to get to my meeting I paid and got the hell out of there. Sent a text to my buddy who bought it before and said he has never paid more than $10. I was fuming. My whole meeting I couldn't get over how I just got my faced ripped off by this guy.

Anyone have a similar situation with GB or any other beer for that matter? Would you have walked out empty handed or paid the price and felt like a total tool afterwards?

I've never ever paid more than $12.99 for a 4 pack of G Bot ... ever. I would tell him no thank you at that price but it sounds like I've had it a lot more than you.

There are certain really rare things (i.e. annual release, low quantity) that I don't care what I pay. Bot is not one of those things. While it's rare, it comes often enough that I won't be gouged on it. I am sure I have a mental line of what is too much for many beers, but it's a spur of the moment decision.

Imperial Stout Trooper, on the other hand, comes out once a year and I don't mind being charged what I know is too much especially if it allows me to avoid driving store to store to price shop.

Total bullshit blaming NEBCo for the price. That price is ridiculous.

Bot should be $12.99 per 4pk.

What's the name of the store?

    Cheers

For your sake I hope it had a date sticker on it. If it didn't its more than 2 months old. I would hate for you to have gotten screwed on both price and freshness.

$20 for a four pack of Gandhi is crazy, but the store has a right to try to get that much if they think their local market will bear it. Personally I find it more offensive that they'd try to lay the blame for that practice at the feet of NEBCo, which is utter malarkey. I'd recommend looking elsewhere. I've paid $12.99 in Fairfield but prices vary from store to store quite a bit.

I paid 14.99......once. I told the seller it should be 12.99 and he claimed that was his cost from the distributor. Probably BS but whateva. Months later, I went in and was again offered a 4pk. This time it was 13.99. Getting better....

at a different store in town, I also paid $3 for a single can one time

Cheapest I've seen is $12, the most I've paid is $13. I wousldn't be surprised if I saw $14, but I wouldn't pay more than that.

    I paid $22.99 last week.

Not really, I was just trying to make you feel better. You're out 6 or 7 bucks and the guy is a dick. Time to move on. Post the name of the store, that may make you feel better too.
