As usual, in case you hadn't already seen; fill your boots...

i have to say, at first glance i'm distinctly underwhelmed. I also wish CAMRA could produce a more user-friendly beer list.

Eh. Can't say there's anything on there that makes me wish I wasn't missing it.

I can see a couple of breweries I like doing beers that aren't their best.

Also from that link, it's a shame the top rated beer is 2.5 stars out of 5.

I'm surprised by some notable exceptions... No Fyne? No Dark Star? No Thornbridge?

    Or Buxton, or Magic Rock.

No Brewdog? My lower jaw went through the floor.....

On a more serious note, will they list the actual beers at some point rather than the breweries? And does the foreign list include bottles or are those just the taps?

it stipulates if it's bottled. The beers are up there- you have to click on each brewery. Like I say- not the best design by CAMRA.

To see the beers available from each brewery (typically just one), you have to click on the brewery name. Doing this will take you to another page.
Foreign list is bottles and taps, with the former indicated in parentheses next to the beer's name i.e. Stone's Imperial Russian Stout.

Edit: beaten to it by Partridge.

Thanks to both of you. It is very user-unfriendly isn't it?

Certainly is, though the last GBBF website was fairly awkward too.

I'm sure some of these are most likely on the CBOB bar, those beers haven't been disclosed.

Ah, but they have Belvoir Dark Horse and Brewsters Hophead. We had this head to head with Dark Star Hophead and though they are both great the unanimous verdict was the Brewster's was in front by a short head. And something from Blue Monkey too, a superb and flourishing local brewery that's come from nowhere.
But I can get these without leaving the area and a lot cheaper too so I'll give the GBBF a miss.

Well, it looks like I'll be sticking close to the BSF bar this year.

Looking at the list I did a rough cask count and it comes in at around 300

They normally have nearer to 500

It does state more will be added so I expect quite a few (and some of the notable brewery exceptions) are yet to appear!

Should be more than that at a major festival. Nottingham aims for over 1000 this October.

    I think I can manage with a mere 500 !

Yes.To be honest I prefer festivals like Melton where it's 50 to 60 and far less hectic all round. No queues, no entrance fee, fixed price per glass so no waiting for the staff to work things out.One glass, one token regardless of what beer it is.

My favoruite BF fits that description

    http://www.eghambeerfestival.co.uk/ebf12-summer-2012

They run 3 per year and always tend to focus on local and new breweries

Just having a quick scan at the advance beer list - 13 x 2012 start up breweries!
