If you can get to the Genesee Brew House in Rochester, New York in the next few weeks hurry up and order a pint of their Brew House Oak-Aged Imperial Black IPA. Only available there for a short time.

This was an astonishing and complex brew and you might be pleasantly surprised even those of you who are very critical of Genny beers. I made sure to pick up a growler which made it back safe and sound from my 7 hour drive from Rochester to my home in New Hampshire. I would like to savor this one for awhile.

I'm going to the Brew House to try it this weekend.

Had it last week. Very good but They think that 10% abv is too high so they only serve it in half pint glasses for $4.

That's why I picked up a growler so I could drink it in full sized glasses.

Damnit! I leave for tour on Friday and won't have a chance to get to Rochester until at least August. Anyone here happen to be traveling to an upcoming Phish show and want to bring me a growler? Pretty please?

They're playing three nights at SPAC. Take a day trip.

Yeah...I can't really just quit my job for a day, rent a car, and drive home to buy beer.

Won't be able to make back to Rochester till late July, but thanks for the post. Before this I just thought the Brew House only served Genny regulars. Now I'll definitely have to stop on my return.

Yeah, the brew house serves an ever-revolving selection of one-offs that they whip up. Last time I went, I think I had a four flight setup that only had one regular. And surprise, surprise...all other three on it were better than anything that brewery puts in bottles at the moment.

They've got some good brewers working there; I wish they'd change up their strategy a little and start releasing a greater variety of their other (and better) ideas. At least that way I could have friends back home grab something for me that I could enjoy when I get back for visits!
