I cannot take credit for this. A much more creative friend of mine made it. Enjoy! https://ibb.co/hhFn8R
Eh, I don't think "pride" is his first instinct with such items... Brewery Battling Lucasfilm After Attempt To Trademark “Empire Strikes Bock” Beer Star Wars Beers And The LucasFilm Legal Team and it's not as if it hasn't been done before...
Haha, I like it. "Dry-hop or do not dry-hop..." And to chime in on the whole George Lucas/Star Wars licensing thing, he's been very open and free with people using everything... unless there's profit to be made of it. Thus, this would be allowed on the internet, but as soon as someone starts printing posters and selling it it would be out. Of course they may have become more vigilant because there are so many more money making ventures going on now that they can't keep up.
Now that Disney owns the rights I wouldn't be so sure. They pushed for reformation of public domain laws and have been known to throw their weight around in copyright lawsuits as well.
New England Brewing Co. received a letter from Lucas Films around 2009 or so asking them, (very politely as a matter of fact) to stop using the old label on Imperial Stout Trooper being they didn't want their product being associated with alcohol or tobacco. Nebco. used to display the letter in a frame on the wall at the old brewery before the move/expansion. In classic NEBCo. fashion, they slapped some Groucho Marks glasses over the storm troopers face (which is actually a beer mug if you look at it closely) The label is still used that way today with no issues.
Yep, Disney, I forgot about that. Can't blame them though, can you? It's intellectual property that they now own. It's one of those things. If they don't defend it now it sets a precedence.
Does your town ever have free public movie screenings? If they do, chances are they're never Disney owned movies. Even if there is absolutely no one making money, Disney doesn't let people screen them. Some may show them without Disney finding out, but I've heard of several instances (one that I was planning on attending) where Disney got word of a free public screening and put a stop to it.
