    Frankentrunk Dunkel from Eschenbacher

Pleasing aroma of grain with applesauce cake. Just slightly sweet with a broad hint of smoke. Maybe a splash of the old Arnold Palmer. Plenty of foam in the glass and lush and spritzy on the tongue. This is yet another little-known example of excellent German brewing-- extremely drinkable and mouth-filling. From the 500 ml can purchased in the apparently bottomless Costco Biergarten case.

Given the name of that beer it seems like the perfect season and a good opportunity to throw some pumpkin and/or spices into that beer. But Germans don't do that. Do they?

By the way, nice glass! I've never seen anything even remotely close to that.

Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier. Would have preferred different glassware, but delicious, as always.

Nevertheless, even SUGGESTING pumpkin spice in a Dunkel should garner some demerits of some sort.

Take your additive love to a Pastry Stout thread!

    No. Really.

At least there's no lemon jammed on the rim!

Not bad, honestly. Leftovers from a party over the weekend.

Out to brunch. The keg of Von Trapp Vienna just kicked, so a Bitburger it is. Nothing wrong with that.

    Good to know.
Picked this up in Asheville back in September, bottle date in February (L1545). Always appreciative of Andechs distro in our area!
    Cheers!

That's a terrific Schwarzbier. I haven't seen it much lately but a good reminder to keep an eye out. Cheers!

The glass is something handmade that came from a shop in Tallinn, Estonia. It's a nice souvenir but also does not slip out of your fingers!

Somethiing unpronouncable from Brauhaus Wiesen-- Wiesener Attfränkisches Landbier Kellerbier

Pleasant bready aroma with yeast in the nose. Lovely creamy, mouth-filling carbonation. This is full of delicate perfumey flavors but finishes with a piney and resiny scratch. This is definitely not the skunky Euro hop brew, and the green leafy tang is subtle and in keeping with the restrained flavors. There are even some wheaty notes along with the malt. Overall this is mildly flavored but complex, from malty sweet start to mellow herbal finish. From the 500 ml can in the Costco Biergarten case. Stamped in English "Best before 07/2026."

Lucky to work at an institution that understands that Election Day should be a holiday.

Doing some chores and getting ready for some UCL later. Mid-beer action shot.
