The wife had that at Weltenburger am Dom in Regensburg last month. The taste I had was nice, she really enjoyed it.

I saw a bar recently list having Samichlaus on tap. Have either of you had it this way?

To me, Optimator, Korbinian and Salvatore used to be tradition during the holidays, oddly enough, when I lived in Mexico. Still get them on occasion, but the tradition seems to be amped to imperial stouts and barrel aged anything. I will say, Optimator goes so damn good with red beef tamales.
    Cheers!

If I have, it was many years ago and I really don't recall. Seems like the draft availability is new and limited.

I hope to God they don't serve it in a Maß.

Mahr's Christmas Bock is an ever-elusive, yet spectacularly drinkable holiday offering. My ultimate fav. Have not seen it in at least 6 years.

I hope when you typed this, you screamed it in an assertive and aggressive manner.

:grinning: See my discussion with Jess above -- they have a custom, tiny little Krug; 118 ml. Basically a shot glass.

It was in a very celebratory and festive tone.

"Local" Binny's has it on its current manifest.

I say "local," because it's the closest to me... and still 20+ (meandering) miles away. :astonished:

These are some of my favorites year 'round & they don't get much pub round here...whatevs, those who don't get it, never will. Bring on the Aventinus & the Vitus \m/\m/

Damn, I gotta hunt down these sixers, I've only ever seen the single bottles for about $2.99 to $4.99

The 6ers of Vitus are everywhere in central MD. I've seen them run anywhere from $10.99 to $12.99 a sixer depending on the store. Amazing price for a higher ABV world class beer IMO.

Here's what Gunther and myself are drinking for Christmas dinner. I had a cool picture but couldn't seem to get it inserted:
    Aecht Schlenkerla Eiche
    Weihenstephaner Korbinian
Schneider Weisse Tap 6 Unser Aventinus
    Andechser Doppelbock Dunkel
    Ayinger Celebrator (4 pack)

Shout out to the Wooden Keg, Hagerstown, MD. Had them all on the shelf.

Thanks for your comments, opinions, recommendations.
Happy Festivus, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
    Cheers,

These beers look and sound tasty, I need to expand my knowledge of German beers.

Winter and festbiers are usually doppelbocks, dunkler bocks or strong, spicy marzens. My favorites were the eisbocks, notably Schneider Aventinus and EKU 28. A good weizenbock would do nicely as well.
