I've searched the forum for a post I'm sure I've seen which recommends beer festivals around Germany? Maybe I'm imagining it?!! Either way I can't locate it. Anyhow, over the last few years we've enjoyed Oktoberfest, Straubing and Erlangen with the latter two being exceptional. Does anybody have some more recommendations to give us food for thought for our 2018 trip please??
I think some of the info you're looking for is in this thread: https://www.beeradvocate.com/community/threads/oktoberfest-2017-table-reservations.495334/
For a big dose of Bavarian Culture, check Viehscheid: http://www.bayerntrips.com/tips-tricks-treasures/bavarianculture.html#What is this?
That sounds right up our strasse! Have you any idea of the actual dates and the best towns to go to for this experience? Thanks in advance!
There are still Bockbierantichen (don't know if that is pluralized correctly) going on in November. They're not a bierfest per se, but the tapping of the brewery's Bockbier. http://www.infranken.de/regional/bi...alle-termine-und-brauereien;art167710,2905454
I'm going to pforzheim for work the next two weeks. Any beer festivals closer to that than the main one in munich?
Starkbierfest in the Spring, sometime in March, and lasts a few weeks. This is high on my wish list, and my understanding is that you won't necessarily find roller coasters and such. If you love doppelbocks then you might like this one.
That's because Starkbierzeit takes place at the Bierhalls in Munich, not at the Wies'n -- you have to wait for Frühlingsfest in May for the roller coasters.
There is a list here, but it’s not yet updated for 2018: https://www.allgaeu-viehscheid.de/viehscheid-termine.html I also have a trip that combines the Viehscheid with Oktoberfest: http://www.bayerntrips.com/tours-of-bavaria/show/oktoberfest-201810-night.html
