Great article, sorry I missed it before. “You are in a German bar … get over it.” Perfect. All of the older bars mentioned were spots I always frequented in my younger days. Resi's has a great beer garden, Laschet's has a terrific kitchen... all aside from the great beer lists, of course. Thanks for the memories.
Very good article. Laschet's is one of my favorite bars in the city, period, and Huettenbar would be neck-and-neck if they served food. Resi's is always a great time as well, and Dovetail being really close to all of them just makes for an excellent night out. Long live German beer culture in Chicago!
Did they re-close? They had stayed open after announcing they'd close (limited hours, IIRC), but I hadn't heard they were closing again.
