I love Bavarian, and luckily live a mile away. Been going for years, but one of my fav times was a few years back when they did a fundraiser for some hurricane. The had a wooden barrel of some Goose Island/Spaten beer flown in from Germany. And a dozen people were doing parking lot drinking with a massive stein of beer on a Saturday afternoon.

Bavarian Lodge is awesome. Wish I lived closer, but probably better for my wallet and waistline that I don’t. Was that GI beer the Keller Marzen? My fond memory involves drinking pretty much nothing but that and Halia at a GI Block Party a few years ago.

I do think that was it! I think the deal was like $35 donation, you got a t-shirt and a massive 30 some odd ounce stein of the beer.

They have (wooden) keg tappings regularly - at least before this pandemic. Not on a regular schedule, but they would tap interesting wooden kegs from the like such as Einbeck, Schlenkerla, and several others. On occasion, the served the whole keg at no cost to the folks at the bar, sometimes you would get one glass for free and the next you'd pay for, and I think the Schlenkerla Eiche you had to pay from the beginning. Lot of regulars hanging out at the bar for those occasions. I'm looking forward to the days when that continues.
