I had my first hacker-pschorr last night thanks to this thread. I enjoyed it a lot!

Don't the glasses in the illustration look larger than .3 liter? But yeah, maybe it was an "upper class" Biergarten.

Had a Hacker-Pschorr Amber Marzen at the grill this evening -- perfect accompaniment to the mild weather and the task at hand.

I’m jealous of your mild weather. Day 5 of a heatwave here.

We had that last week (and 15 tornadoes locally!), I think the cooler air is headed your way!

I thought the heat wave broke today? Did somewhere in MA hit 90?

I love the heat by way, I’ll be looking for whatever Oktoberfests I can find this weekend, weather be damned!

Never mind, looks like we did hit day 5 of this heat wave in many areas!

A quick report back on the Erdinger: bottom line is that I quite enjoy it. It's definitely got a hefeweizen flavor profile, but the malt element is bumped up while the banana and clove are turned down. Still, the flavors are clean and pleasant, and it's quite moreish overall.

I told myself I was buying them to store till cooler weather and yet all I’ve drank the past 2-3 nights have been Oktoberfest, oh well. Like you said, weather be damned.

So, I'm pretty much following my usual course; had Spaten, H-P, Paulaner, and Ayinger Marzens this year and I stand by my usual conclusion: Spaten is still my favorite, but I would never turn down any of the others.

H-P is probably number 2 with Ayinger a close third and Paulaner a close fourth.

Surprised to find Paulaner a little different from H-P this year, a little less malty and drier -- but not crazy different. Still plan a side-by of the two.

I still haven’t found Ayinger in new jersey yet. And most of the imports are running low at the store I visit. Late this year? Or non at all? I guess time will tell.

agree @steveh i has a paulaner last night and my first thought was that it tasted way lighter than it looked.
