15 minutes in the freezer is usually all it takes.

Ayinger beers are very pricey in my area as well. I was fortunate that this year one of my local retailers placed Ayinger Oktober Fest-Marzen beers in their mix-a-six section so I have purchased several bottles this way at a 'discount'. I enjoyed drinking these beers, I thought they were very good.

    Cheers!

Just finished a sixer of this. Nice and relatively fresh too.

One of my local stores still has this on the shelf from last year! :grimacing:

Or the distributor had it on their floor from last year and sold it off for the season.

Unless you've been watching it languish in the same spot since last year.

    That is indeed unfortunate. :slight_frown:

I found this document to be fairly enlightening: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1002/j.2050-0416.1984.tb04288.x

This thread encouraged me to seek this out, found some for $10/4 at TW, cheaper than any of the other beers I bought. Albeit 4+ months old...

And that equates to about $15 a six-pack (and about is an important term here since these bottles only contain 11.2 ounces).
All of the other Oktoberfest beers you purchased were priced higher than 15 bucks a six-pack?:astonished:

    I can purchase six-packs of Spaten, Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, ... for less than 10 bucks a six-pack.

    Cheers!

I'll be looking for more when I go to the store but I think the bottles that I bought were half liters

They were also almost 4$ each so still very expensive, but if they had been $10/4 pack I would consider it a solid deal

The bottles in the 4-pack aren't the .5 liters -- buyer beware. They're the 11.2 ouncers.

FWIW -- I checked the local that was carrying a good array of Oktos (import and domestic) -- only HB, Hacker-Pschorr, and Weihenstephaner left on their shelves.

We've only.gotten the singles. Maybe the local bevmo has 4 packs. What imports we get tend to be expensive here. Only ones I've seen under $10/6 are urquell and warsteiner

Pretty much the same around here -- and $10 for that Ayinger 4-pack is still pretty good compared to the $12 I saw in my store. I think the single, .5 liter bottles were $3 or $3.50.

Grabbed a single of the hofstetten today as it finally showed up in the store I go to. Looking forward to it for new beer weekend!

Of imports, that is. Looked like a tall stack of SN 12-packs, among other domestics.

Sorry I was a bit misleading. I'm not a big O fest drinker (or any lager for that matter) but do occasionally crave it. Hey what better month
I don't really track the lager pricing but appreciate your response.
The other two sixers 12oz were Xocoveza and Double Jack, both $20ish.
    I guess I'm a shopper of opportunity.

One thing to keep in mind regarding price is that not only is Ayinger an excellent beer, it also has a fairly unique flavor profile. So if that's the one that truly floats your boat you may as well pay the premium price because there is no substitute.
