I realize you did say 4 PLUS months, but I imagine the Ayinger was probably bottled back in March/April, unless there was another bottling date in June.

The four packs I bought were May 12th (133).

I also purchased Ayinger bottles of the day 133 vintage.

    Cheers!

One place in town has Paulaner Oktoberfest on draught. It didn't look very amber so I am assuming that it is the Wiesn. Very tasty once the glass warmed up. No unchilled glasses at that venue.

Here's a pic. The light haziness is somewhat surprising.

Yeah, that haziness is questionable. Since most imports are heavily filtered, I can't imagine that's chill haze.

You sure it wasn't a Weizen (not Wiesn)? :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh yeah, only chilled glasses? Couldn't they run it under some warm water for you?

When they tell me that, I ask:
"Does hot and cold running water come out of that spout at the sink?"

That looks more like a New England IPA. The bottles of the Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier I had this year were clear as day if I recall.

I’ve seen this happen in drafts of the Wiesn in years past. But the ones that were hazy like that one definitely tasted off, and it obviously looks off. Weird.

You've really seen them get that cloudy?

It honestly looks like a Weissbier. I've had Paulaner's Weiss in the past, but I don't recall if the flavor was mild enough that a frozen glass would stunt it.*

*Based on my review, I doubt Paulaner's Weizen could be mistaken for another style, no matter how cold.

I found a 4 pack at the local TJ's last week. Ayinger gets the gold star from me this year. I'll soon head out and try to snag another but there were only one or two remaining. Wish me luck!

Hey, sorry man. Lost track of that "tag" on the Paulaner. It was the darker, maltier, most awesome, Oktoberfest bier version. Still have 3 left in the fridge and they go down soon.
    Prost!
Still my fave from this year.

But the darker, maltier one would be the Marzen...

Yup, and just on draft. I believe I saw it at a few places in previous years. Not this year though, but that's only because I haven't had it on draft. Maybe not quite THAT turbid, but definitely very hazy.

And what are the odds it happened more than once? I'll try to see if I can get a picture I may have taken.

Never mind "maltier," remembering our little experiment from last year.

I think retailers are being a bit more conservative in what they order, they don’t seem willing to risk over extending themselves. The seasonal are definitely trending to less, especially with the pumpkin beers. Pre Covid there would be a few Fest beers on tap a few Pumpkins, now they go from 38 taps to maybe 6 and 2-3 of them are AALs because that’s how they pay the bills. They don’t get rich off me, they make their money selling Yuengling or Bud Light or bottles of Corona or Heineken.
