    Hey there guys!

So a co-worker has said he doesn't like Belgian beers. I want to change that!

I asked him what he did like and he started with Jupiler, which is better than Stella which is better than Leffe. Grimbergen was unliked, as was Duvel. He also liked St. Feuillien Blond. From American Beers, dislikes Bud/Coors but Sam Adams is okay.

So what are some good starter beers to branch out from? I'm thinking La Chouff, Vedett and maybe Orval or Rochefort 6/8. Easy stuff with not too much complexity...right?

Maybe some de la Senne? Brussels Calling, Taras Boulba, Band of Brothers...

Orval not too much complexity? Blasphemy!!!

+1 on Taras Boulba, a delicious, balanced, easy to drink, sessionable pale ale. Great intro beer for someone who likes mass produced lagers.

    Stella better than Leffe? Please..........

Start him off with Houblon Chouffe Dobbelen IPA, Val Dieu Triple, Loterbol Blond and Deranke Guldenberg. If he shows no sign of life after those, give up.

Yeah. My coworkers are all hopeless.

Oh and don't get me wrong, I LOVE Orval! That's why it's on that list, it's what got me started down the road to better beer!

I've got some Val Dieu sitting around, maybe I'll throw that in with some of these other great choices (Chouffe IPA is right up the alley I think) and just have these guys over for some tasting.

Sit him down with a few different styles. He my prefer blonde to brune. Try a few triples. There is enough beer in Belgium he should be able to find one he likes.

I did a blind supermarket lager tasting and Stella actually beat Jupiler hands down. Way more hoppiness there and not the rancid cardboard taste.

Preferring to see the bright side, preferring St. Fuillen to Leffe (indirectly) is not a bad sign. How about Saison Dupont? It's a genuinely great beer, and it provides what a pisswater-beer drinker probably wants from a beer: quaffable, quenching, a pure note rather than dissonant chords.

Taras boulba is too bitter for a rookie in my experience ; I gave it to someone that drinks macro and they really didn't like it : I finished it.

Chouffe ipa is defo a good shot very cheap and easy to find

If drinker doesn't like duvel they won't like saisons end of...
