im replenishing my bottle collection, and in the past ive always just used store bought bottles or bottles without a date stamp on them. a lot of the stuff i drink though is stamped, and id rather just use them. the fact that the stamp is on there sort of bugs me though. is there any easy way of getting it off? scrubbing it with soaps and cleaners isnt cutting it, at least nothing ive tried yet. maybe acetone or something more harsh?
I don't have an answer for you, other than to keep trying different ways, but you need to name the brewery whose bottle dates are not easily wiped off. I think any bottle that I've ever had that has the date inked on the glass instead of on the label uses ink that rubs off by just handling the bottle from the 6-pack carrier to get it into the fridge.
its a few stubborn clown shoes bottles. havent tried to others yet. some have come off real easy though.
StarSan is the way to go if you REALLY want them off. I've soaked growlers in a bucket of StarSan and the label stencils came right off. I tried everything to get the labels off before and nothing worked until a used a higher level concentration an overnight soak. starsan wil remove anything ink on a bottle.
didn't even think about star-san. i tried dish soap, pbw, and oxyclean and they didnt work. was a little tentative to use anything more harsh. Ill give the star-san a shot tomorrow, thanks
That's was me with the stencil. Some reason I thought start small. Good thing is starsan isn't going to ruin or doing anything bad to the bottles. Cheers and say goodbye to those damn date stamps!
