The biggest fermenters they have at the place now are, I believe, 60 barrels, and I don't think they have more than 2-4 of those. Obviously there's a bunch of other fermenters but I've got no clue as to how many or in what sizes. To my knowledge they're also working on a 15 barrel system right now and the new brewhouse, which is scheduled to arrive in roughly half a year, will bump them up to 30 barrels.

So yeah, it is factually incorrect to say that they're intentionally making Gandhi Bot scarce. The demand far outstrips their capability to produce the beer and it's not like it's a possibility to just magically bring in a new brewhouse and increase production straight away. They're doing everything they can and are trying to satisfy demand but it hasn't happened yet and is unlikely to happen any time in the near future with the way everyone goes nuts over their hoppy offerings.

Yeah I'm much happier if they take their time with new systems to do it right.

    Hey guys,

We stay pretty quiet overall but wanted to hopefully shed some light on our situation and put some rumors to rest. We have doubled Gandhi-bot production every year since it was first released. I’m not comfortable growing quicker than that. This years Sea Hag orders have more than doubled our prior predictions and Sea Hag remains our distributors top priority for our brand. This does cut into Gandhi production a bit. I strongly believe the steps we've taken over the last few years has made Gandhi and all of our beers more consistent and improved its overall shelf life ten fold and we will continue to maintain this if we continue to grow and a responsible pace.

Keep in mind we are a small hands on brewery and want to remain hands on. We produced 5000 bbls last year, are on course to finish this year at 8,000 bbls this year, and 12-14 next year. That’s a considerable amount more NEB beer for the small state of CT (the only state we currently distribute to). Some of you may have noticed there are now dated stickers on the cans. One of the many factors that led to this was the fact that it is technically illegal here in the state of CT for us to refuse to sell any of our beers to any one account. As a result lots of non craft beer focused accounts (many that don't carry any of our beers or craft in general) have complained to the liquor control commission that they couldn't get Gandhi-Bot. In CT, they legally can’t be denied a sale and the beer usually sits on their shelves as a result of not having craft buying customers. This also makes it less available for the stores we all like to shop at. If we could legally do what happens in VT or MA here in CT we would certainly do so.

I am very appreciative for those who provide honest feedback rather than the whiny assumptions that have no basis that some others like to share. The good feedback allows us to make an effort to try and make corrections to the areas where we fall short.

Thanks to those who support our little brewery. It means a lot to us.

Thanks for the insight Matt, and thanks for dating cans now. Got some cans at a store that is not one of my normal haunts and I just knew it was old and stored wrong from the first sip. Good to know that won't happen again.

I do not envy you guys at all. Seems like a bit of a balancing act between serving your customer base well, keeping people posted on what's going on/on tap and making the masses happy without going insane.

Huh?? I think it's great that they're working through the pains of being a highly successful small brewery, and doing it on their own terms. What's the alternative? That life is easy and sales are flat? It's 3:30 on a Friday afternoon. I bet the line is out the door at the brewery right now of people digging what they do and wanting to buy their product. You don't eny that?

From the marketing/social media interaction perspective. It just seems as though no matter what they do someone is complaining or criticizing.

I'm not implying anything, I said exactly what I meant. Scarcity marketing is a well known concept these days. Russian River freely admits that it is part of their strategy. What exactly is ridiculous about what I said?

Maybe that isn't the case at nebco but it certainly isn't ridiculous to think it is.

Pliny is a whole different beast, nothing I've seen suggests the NEBCO guys aren't being sincere and busting their asses to get GB out there. Call me crazy, but I don't need GB constantly, it's a treat that I can track down one a month or every few weeks.

I actually started a Twitter account: http://twitter.com/GandhiBotBot dedicated to helping people track down Gandhi Bot and general appreciation of the brew.

It's out there, I've seen cases stacked at stores around CT that are a little off the beaten path. I also know of a store outside of Hartford that gets 2 cases and had 150 people signed up to a mailing list for GB availability.

It's a great beer made by seemingly good people that are only trying to make more of it, rejoice.

(I have no affiliation with the brewery, just an admirer of their beer, when I can get it.)

Off topic but there's no current NEBCO thread....what kind of line do you guys expect Saturday morning for the Locust release?

Line wasn't bad whatsoever this morning. I showed up at 10:52 exactly - Was 25th in line roughly. I was trying to get there a bit earlier but ended up sleeping in. Took a little less than an hour, which is really good when you consider that 99% of people were getting multiple fills of Locust.

And yeah, why is there not a NEBCO thread?

I have to add, this beer is drinking fabulously. NEBCO does it again - anyone surprised?

Crazy how Sea Hag has taken off. I mean it does taste better every time I try it these days. There are several places who have/want permanent Sea Hag draft lines or cans on the menu, but there is barely enough to keep up. Need to satisfy those needs first before having more Gandhi available. Can't wait til the new system comes in!

Typically sea hag is the best IPA in most package stores in this state. It's usually very fresh and is under $10 a sixer. I love it. It has such a unique hop profile.

Even Sea Hag is becoming harder to get from distributors and they constantly run out. At least I know its fresh at my local package store!

For sure, my go to place has been out of Sea Hag for the past week. But the good news is that it has been super fresh everywhere I frequent. Haven't seen it older than 2 weeks!

Interesting change at my local shop, all Nebco has been moved out of the cooler to the warm shelf. They have had plenty of 668, Hag and Elm City. No G-Bot for a long time. Not sure why they moved it, I didn't ask.
