Just curious if anyone else is going this Friday. Given the weather forecast, I might wind up being more interested in the bands (Filthy Friends, Ted Leo) than drinking a bunch of BA stouts. Anyway, would be cool to meet up with a couple of local folks.

Anyone who has gone before, how much are beer tokens? And does each day have the same beer?

The FAQ section doesn't exactly answer my question, are back packs allowed? I'd be coming straight from Zwanze Day. I haven't been to the Block Party since 2015 but it seems different than that year, in particular to no ticket needed and purchasing of drink tokens. Which is/was the better value?

My memory is a little fuzzy on this - the events I'm recalling were quickly followed by a plethora of high-gravity beers (I'm a lightweight) - but I believe the tokens were roughly 20 dollars for six beers. I don't remember if that was $3/pour or $20 for six - but I'm pretty sure I paid $20 and got six tokens (possibly with 2 bucks change). The tokens are one-per-beer, whether that's a can of the IPA or a 4-ish ounce pour of one of the BCBS variants. I seem to recall that the value was roughly the same as previous years, other than the ticket-versus-donation part of things.

I'm fairly certain it's the same offerings both days, but I've only gone on Fridays in the past. Last year they switched to serving the good stuff in the taproom, and there's no announced schedule for what will be offered when - a decision that's personally frustrating but does make some sense. (They had timed releases at a stand in the back area two years ago, so you could plan your drinking in advance, but it also meant a pretty crazy line would form for the best offerings.) The only way to find out what the current offerings are is to go through the line - which does at least flow pretty fast - or stand outside the taproom and ask people who were coming out.

Yep this is pretty accurate. Same offerings each day. They usually have 2-3 BA offerings on until one kicks, in which they replace it with another. So you pretty much end up doing a constant loop if you don't want to miss out on anything. The line is very short in the beginning but gets longer of course as the night goes on. In the past I have been able to get almost everything that is on the list.

There is no ticket to entry but they strongly encourage you donate $10 when walking in. I have seen them be huge assholes to people who don't (I don't know why you wouldn't donate when they are putting on such a great event).

I will be there Friday and Saturday. One of my favorite festivals of the year!

I did see today that Target has some good pads and tampons on sale..

I'm hydrating with an M-43 so I'll be ready for the stouts. If this is anything like their dodgeball tournament, I'll be trying to hitch a ride home on an empanada truck, and they won't be amused.

Edit: playaplaya, they're serving Guinness? My goodness!

13 bcbw and 16 stout to start.

Can any beer drinking professionals tell me if any of the guest taps are worth it? Not familiar with them.

    Have fun!

Edit: also handing out $5 off clybourn tap room cards. Say it'll open next month.

Did something just get tapped? Gardien? I'm so confused.

Edit: hahahaha I think it was a flash speculation line. Filthy Friends sound great, btw

Just got a '15 Rare. Tapped right before I reached the bar.

Edit: Makes the blonde doppelbock I also got taste like garbage.
