with the red tickets it was AND, the red tickets were pretty easy to come by, I got in after they were handed out and people who had them were giving them away

That was the problem. According to GI, and really, who knows if they told the truth to us outside, PieDog was supposed to clear out the place at 4PM. No one was supposed to be allowed in between 4 and 6. At 6, they were going to start letting people in with a time line to keep everything moving. When PieDog let everyone in early it screwed everything up...or so says the GI reps that were outside talking to people.

Obviously not your fault if you got let in and just followed instructions but clearly there was a plan that was not executed which led to the shit storm that happened.

Didn't see any free prop tickets going around when I got in around 7:30.

This was publicity for a craft pub that opened a short while ago. They paid for the GI beers then paid for the shitsorm of bad pub.

Bottom line is that this place was way too small for this kind of event, tho PD is a decent joint. See y'all in Orange.

I went to 3 of the events last year and yesterday's event should have been no surprise to anyone who's ever been to one of these. Knowing that they were starting at 6pm, I knew I had to be early so I got there around 4pm. I was #9. I chilled out, did some work (free wifi), ate, etc. I think around 5pm, they shut down, and the first 25 were more or less locked in. If you were one of those early people (some of whom travelled quite far), you more or less got a shirt, a glass, a pour of prop and vanilla, and food for $18. If you came afterwards, you probably had a hard time. That being said, I waited maybe 2.5 hours before I got my beer (albeit seated). Conveniently, our whole table happened to all have bottles and it turned into an impromptu bottle share.

Pie Dog staff, despite how crazy it was, did an excellent job. The food was excellent. The event was a lot of fun. GI did an amazing job keeping everyone happy and it was fun sharing beers with them.

I may go to some other events, but the key here is to get there early and expect for it to be crazy busy. Truthfully, I felt really bad for everyone who was lined up outside, but I've been in the exact same boat before. There was a certain point, around 5:20, where it was just "done", but it looked like what remained of the line gradually made its way in. I think Prop actually stayed on well past 10pm, maybe longer?

Hrm. I suppose getting there so early blinded me to what the later people had to deal with. Didn't really notice how slow the line was moving or how many people cut in cause I wasnt outside watching it. If thats true I guess that is a valid complaint.
Maybe they should have hired a security guard at the door.

Man I wanted to go to one of these events but they all sound crazy. I got lucky and a place by my house taped VR on Sunday. I think I was the only person drinking it. Got 3 rounds and left. Went back today they said they were "out" but that they got another keg coming soon.
