Chance to buy a bottle of Rare today, more details on site (GI taproom). Assume huge line? I am surprised to find no comments. Can't believe the qty to be distributed is worth the trip? Some BCS on tap might be worth the drive? Anybody got a "live" report?

They make a point of saying "No televisions." So... That might keep some people away.

Sounds like a good way to start Super Bowl Sunday drinking some BCS.

I'd estimate around 100 in line right meow.

With all of the awesome beer events going on today (e.g. Hopleaf, Old Town Social), I can't figure out why so many people would be lined up for this. Is it just because of a chance to buy Rare? There was a chance to do that a couple weeks back at Highline - my buddy went and I don't think there was some huge line (and he ended up winning the raffle because the first couple numbers that were called were for people that weren't present at that tie).

It seems like there have been so many chances to drink BCBS and variants around town all year, and I've had no problems accessing the couple I've gone to, which is why the line perplexes me.

He wasn't. They hit capacity before everyone that lines up before noon even got inside. Then the "line" for beer was about 45 minutes long. Sounds like a real fun event.

I love GI Clybourn, but their BA events are the worst. You've got events like yesterday's Festibarrel, with Prop on tap for hours, Regal for the entire day, dozens of other fantastic beers on tap all day as well, and pretty easy access to everything the entire time, but the next day Clybourn has almost an hour wait to get a beer. It's ridiculous, and a shame, because it's not worth showing up for.

I waived myself off right after I posted, pure luck to have dodged this. Actually somewhat surprised that crowd wasn't larger. Having a Founders Imperial Stout that I purchased off the shelf.

I thought it was at the Fulton St taproom, not the GI brewpub on Clybourn? Either way, it was something to be avoided it sounds like.

It was indeed, I wasn't paying attention! That makes it even more brutal, honestly, because the taproom is so much smaller.

I got there right at 4 and it was pretty empty, my girlfriend and I sat at the bar. I didn't order any variants but seemed like everyone who wanted them got them. Had a couple regular bourbon counties and then left to watch the game at home. All in all it was a very smooth event

Then drafts: Regular bcbs draft was $10 for 9 oz I believe. Cahoots barrel aged no s'more and Lagunitas west-ified were $9 I believe

I wonder if anyone actually paid that much for a potentially infected bottle of '15 barleywine

I was just wondering the same thing.... Also, we're those bottles for on site consumption only or take home?

On site only. I know everyone always asks this but besides Local Option a couple weeks ago and this GI Rare event, is the answer ever take home?

GI Clybourn occasionally has to-go bottles (of BCS I mean, not of their one-offs), but yeah, I think the answer is almost always "on-site only."

I think if there are ever to-go sales, they're very clearly marked in the event listings.
