I find beers are rarely as good as the 1st time they were enjoyed. Most of the great beers I have had were made more enjoyable by the people, atmosphere, etc. When I look back on those, I have the realization that I probably would have enjoyed any beer in those moments and that I should savor those moment and not the beer.
