I don't collect glassware - just never got into it, and I generally user either pint glasses or wine glasses. However, people LOVE to give me glassware as gifts. Usually mugs/pints with my initials on it, like from Things Remembered or a similar store. I wouldn't buy myself most of them. How does everyone feel about getting "non-traditional" glassware from non-beer loving friends? My only problem with it is that I keep wanting to buy a few "real"/traditional glasses, but don't because my cabinets are full of the gifted ones. Also, would like some opinions on my most recent glassware gift (received a 4-pack): http://www.mikasa.com/Bubble-Mugs,-....html#cgid=brewmasters-co&start=0&hitcount=11 Obviously a very quality glass, but certainly not traditional. But I think I like them - if you look at the bowl of the glass, it is somewhat similar to a wine glass, which is generally considered a good glass for certain beers.
These are nice, but 22OZ is a lot unless you don't mind pouring entire bombers in it everytime. I think you should try and buy at least one snifter and one tulip glass!
Yeah, they really don't look that big, but its amazing that you could pretty much get an entire bomber in them. A tulip is the exact glass I was planning on getting - just one. Having a hard time finding one I like for a fair price, though.
I have the same problem, but with coffee mugs. I don't know how so many get accumulated. Purging the ones you don't use/like/want is a good way to go. Either garage sale or donate to Good Will. It sucks to get rid of a gift, but sometimes there's no way around it. Those are cool mugs, but I agree, they're a little big.
If you have a World Market close at hand, you can buy a nice non-branded tulip glass for $2.99. I have four of them in pretty much constant rotation.
