Anyone know any decent places besides breweries and online to get some glass? I've wanted an IPA glass for awhile but want a unique and cool one. Also, what effect does this REALLY have on the drinking experiance? I drink basically everything from a half tulip- Half snifter shaped glass I got from a local brewery and it seems to work with almost any style. Also, i got a lagunitas mason jar kind of glass from a bar the other day and I have no idea what to put in it... Water? It seems like the shape won't really work with any beer style
I drink Lagunitas from my Lagunitas mason jar. I figure if Lagunitas is giving them away at tap takeovers, it must be how they like their beer served. I often drink other IPAs from my Samuel Adams perfect pint. I drink stouts from tulips...

Often bottleshops will have glassware, and local thrift stores may have some finds. As for whether glassware REALLY has an effect on the drinking experience, you have to decide that for yourself. I believe it does, so I use glassware. Others don't think it matters, so they don't. There's no definitive answer.
well i know there is a marked difference in glassware versus right out of the can/bottle or something like a solo cup. I meant more about specific glass for their respective beer types. It seems like good glass will bring a good beer to life regardless. Like I said, it seems that every beer i drink out of my snifter tastes great.
I think the answer is still the same, if it makes a difference to you then it's important, but my view is that the sensory difference between a tulip and an IPA glass is much smaller than glassware vs. no glassware. I prioritize something that better captures the aroma and feels good in the hand. I'm happy with snifters, globes, tulips, and the like for every beer style, and never felt like pilsner glasses, flutes, or other non aroma concentrating glassware styles do as much for me, even if they are "appropriate" for the beer style. Your mileage may vary.
Crate and Barrel has some really cool glassware, but on the pricey end. I choose my glassware not on how it effects the taste of my beer, but more on who I'm trying to impress. When I'm drinking with non craft beer people I use the glass-shaped-like-a-beer-can, they love it! With craft beer friends it's all about the mini snifters and teku glasses.
The Spiegelau set basically covers it all. Not cheap and fragile but very fine quality. http://smile.amazon.com/Spiegelau-T...793831&sr=8-3&keywords=spiegelau+beer+glasses
Top of the line department stores here in Mexico sell nice beer glassware, but it is extremely expensive there. A chalice that I got in a beer store (hard to find) at $ 12 dollars, it´s around $50 dollars in these department stores called "Liverpool". Sadly beer stores usually have one or two models, or most of them offer only beer.
As has already been mentioned, glassware can enhance your drinking experience.....whether it is an IPA glass, a stout glass, a tall Weiss / wheat beer glass, tulip, snifter, Teku, or what have you...... I have recently (this year) really gotten into expanding my glassware collection.....have nearly 100 glasses now, and have found them at a variety of places - thrift stores (Goodwill etc), some brewery websites, online stores, etc - have been fortunate to find a wide variety around my area at thrift stores! I try to balance spending much money for something with getting a larger number of glasses at a .50 - $2.00 price, so it feels justified to "splurge" now and again for something special....even have a spreadsheet now with my glassware.... The glass does make a difference.....how you enjoy the beer is up to you!
