lol keep dreaming if you think prices are going to be cheaper and production and quality will increase from having more and more breweries

I've converted a cocktail drinker to beer and eventually craft beer with Hacker Pschorr and Tank 7 from Boulevard.

Find that a lot of Belgians get wine drinkers into it, any sort of Pils from a good brewery usually does the trick for anyone who drinks BMC I love the astonishment when the realization that beer doesn't have to taste like recycled piss when I order a friend a good lager/pils

We bought growlers of DFH Raison D'Etre from the brewery last year on summer vacation. We took them back to NJ and let our families sample the delicious elixirs. Most were wine drinkers who couldn't get enough of this "Beer".

For myself and a lot of my friends, we 'started' on Fat Tire.

    I feel like it was a lot better 5 - 10 years ago . . . :grinning:

Mine was Boston Lager; which might not be hip to say, but it is still a good beer.

If production stays constant for a given beer, then more craft drinkers will lead to higher prices. But in more cases breweries will increase production and/or create a growing number of exciting releases. Compare the top 100 on here to just a few years ago, and you will some of the world's best beers that were made available primarily because of more craft drinkers.

As for new breweries, it is econ 101 that more competition leads to lower prices...or at least slows the rate of increase.

Served some Fresh Squeezed to my brother and sister in law a few weeks ago, they had never had it and typically drink BMC. They couldn't get over how good it smelled. Noses in glasses for fifteen minutes...

I don't see how any IPA could convert anyone.

Give em a Killian's first, then a Bell's amber. That's a good crawl then walk transition

As a retailer, my convert beers have always been Pilsners, Lagers or Wit/Hefes. Living in South Florida, I try to steer noobz to Cigar City Helles Lager or Florida Cracker (their Belgian Wit). Funky Buddha Floridian. I've also had luck with sampling out Three Philosophers. You'd be surprised how many craft virgins love it. Lots of booze, sweet cherry - I did a demo once with that beer and now I've got about a dozen people hooked on it who never bought beer in my store before.

Not sure why so many people recommend bitter, hop forward beers. The best beers to "convert" people with are Hefeweizens, Witbiers and Saisons. Low ABV Porters are good too.

Not really "conversion," but my dad, who doesn't particularly care for beer (drank a Heady last night and said "Yeah, it's beer".... I finished the can) really likes Harpoon UFO White. Doesn't have the hop aggressiveness of my DIPAs, but it's a tasty, quality beer, especially in the summer.

My dad usually drink shit like Norrlands guld and Lapin Kulta, but i convinced him to share a case of westmalle tripel with me and he loved it. Hopefully i have converted him to drink beer.

I say start them with something from Sam Adams or Sierra Nevada. A lot of choices and styles. Have not converted anyone. Still bring my own beer with me to parties.
