For the Austin crowd. It might have changed since it's been a few years since I had this conversation. The bartender at BJ's at Arbor Walk told me they do smaller kegs of Endeavor and get a fresh one every week so that it's always as fresh as possible. Never had one there that wasn't very fresh. It's been my go to place when I'm craving an Endeavor.

I am just disappointed you went to BJ's and not NXNW if you are in that area.

I like the food at NXNW better, but don't care much for their regular beers outside of their seasonals. My wife likes it there so we go to NXNW quite often. Doesn't hurt they sell gift cards there at Costco for 20% off.

I had the beer on tap, in bottles and cans. All were very good. I am confused too - believe me. I haven't had Valkyrie lately because I don't know when it's fresh, but I have indeed found it a bright, bitter, citrusy and very clean beer. Generally, no one tends to be harder on IPAs than me.

How the hell has no one mentioned Independence Stash? Easily one the best year-round TX IPAs. 512 IPA is excellent as well, though it's draft-only.

I'll add another one to the list that's worth trying. It's not my favorite Texas IPA by any means, but recently had Cedar Creek Dankosaurus and was pleasantly surprised. Was very balanced.

I agree, I tried it and found it very good. Best CC beer yet.

Echoing all the praise for Dankosaurus. If this were from a large/more established brewery, it would be getting a lot of attention IMO.

Had Hop Delusion tonight at the brewery, it is as good as I remembered

Another +1 for Dankosaurus. Great stuff, aromatic and tasty. . If this is going to be readily available and fresh, I may have found my new Texas Go To IPA.

Same thing, Dankosaurus is really good. The only beer I've really liked from them. Mosiac is also way up there of me.

I'm having one now. Agree...very good beer, but at $10+ for a four pack it's bound to sit on some shelves for a while. With no can dating, I'm not taking that risk. Too bad you can't trust this or Valkyrie to be fresh.

Well, Dankasaurus just came out so one can safely assume it's fresh now. As for Valkyrie, I just noticed today that there are canned on dates on the 4 pk holders.

I got a growler of Dankosaurus a few weeks ago and didn't like it too much, was a bit oniony to me. But after reading everyone else's opinions, will definitely try it again, thanks.

Really want to try Yellow Rose, if anyone from Houston would want to mule a growler of it up to Plano/Frisco if you're in the area, I would gladly get you a fill of whatever of a good ol' DFW local.

To me, its all about Austin Beerworks. I always have enough Heavy Machinery around, and Fire Eagle is IMO the most consistent readily available IPA, at least in Austin.

I thought heavy machinery was seasonal/limited.
I agree Fire Eagle is awesome, but it is only readily available to the 3% of Texans who live in Austin.

It is. But it sticks around for a good amount of time. Usually when its all gone, its just about time for the new release.

If I could drink one IPA (that's not something super limited or hard to get, at least—any maybe even then) for the rest of my life, it would be either Enjoy By or HM DIPA. That shit is amazing.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say 4Squared is my go-to TX IPA.

Yeah, I know it's not. But it is. It so is.
