It seems most of their bottles are covered in dust on shelves near me. No surprises, same thing happened with wicked weed.

Up here they have gone from being a major shelf occupier to being primarily stovepipes of 12th of never and lil somethin easy, bombers of their imperial stout, the hoppy rotation (BY, Supercluster, waldos...) and their IPA on tap. I have fond memories of their stuff and especially enjoying it at the tap room in petaluma and I still grab their stout from time to time, but mostly I just miss the quarts of Sucks

If it's any consolation, you're not alone. It's a quite populated camp. 6 days in the business camp, and on Sunday, well...

I used to buy Lagunitas all the time. Was and still am a fan of Brown Shugga. Their best beer was the High-Westified Coffee Stout, oh my, that was unbelievably delicious. Then something happened at High West and they went to Willitized coffee stout, but it wasn't even close to High Westified.

Sucks isn't what it used to be, and while I buy a sixer of Undercover Shutdown every year, I don't buy Lagunitas beers anymore.

If they come up with a new release, perhaps a Hazy IPA, then I might try it.

I agree with the other poster, there are just way to many other breweries out there brewing really great beers and seems Lagunitas has not kept up.

I used to like Little Sumpin' alot, but even that one fell out of favor. Now they collect dust on the shelves.

I looked for Phase Change today, didn’t see it. I didn’t care much for Waldo, but keeping an eye for this one. I saw as much Lagunitas on the shelves today than I’ve seen in a long time, at TW.

I think they went downhill when they expanded. Prices went up and fewer styles made it to my area. I haven't seen the Waldos in a couple of years. I remember when the loudest knock against them on these beer websites was they brewed using extracts! Those bastards!

Back when they were still truly "edgy" in the early 00s, I sought the brand for North Carolina. I loved the beers and the story. I had meetings with them and showed great interest in selling their product, but they decided on a Miller/Coors distribution solution. A few months later a key figure with the company called and asked if I wanted Lagunitas for a large swath of North Carolina, that one Miller group was dragging their feet. I said that I would and it was a good relationship. It was an altogether profitable venture and I enjoyed the people from Lagunitas that I encountered. I well remember giving Ron L a nice spear point that I had just found. Those were crazy times.

I enjoy many Lagunitas beers but I've gotten sick of trying to find the julian date code and doing the conversion. Although with Born Yesterday they do use a mm/dd/yy format, why they can't do that on every beer makes no sense to me.

They certainly could but they choose to not do it.
It is pretty obvious to me that Lagunitas does not want me to easily/readily see the dates on their beers.

    Cheers!

I like Lagunitas - Tasty beers, great value. Just picked up another Waldo’s today - $11.99/sixer for a TIPA! I’d probably buy Lagunitas beers more often except the dating is unfortunately archaic (when you can find/see it) and the product sits on dusty shelves here (across the USA) and everywhere I’ve seen it in Europe.

It makes a lot of sense if you think it will negatively impact sales. Which it would, probably, considering that their regular releases can be sitting on shelves for a while or get to stores already with some mileage behind them.

I haven't seen a fresh sixer of Maximus or Lil Sumpin since Toy Story 1.

I'm not sure which is more surprising... That you found Waldos on the shelf in July or that you bought it at almost 4 months old.

I'm curious though, how has it held up? Even under optimal storage mine never see June, and the last one is usually just about half as good as the memory of the first.

The only thing worse than your favorite brewery being taken over by hundreds of sweaty cyclists is going to a bar and the only IPA on tap is Lagunitas!

They make a million different brews and imo only Pernicious is worth a buy.

First year it was out I was shuttling between 2 residences 1000 miles apart, and was able to buy a "second wave" case just before I left one of them in mid-May. I left 2 sixes in the basement there and came back three months later and finished them off. Aroma was down a bit, but they tasted fine.

Taste varies, but my guess is that if you lived in California and access to fresh Lagunitas, you would like a few others from their lineup. From a quality versus cost ratio, it's hard to find many better breweries. From their Cappuccino Stout to Waldo Wicked Ale, it be good!
