Since you don't seem to hear from this one a whole lot, and me being European, I don't have a clear idea what I should be offering up for one of these. Since I have a Choccy and BT b1 now, I might try and get one of these for a Bruery bigwhaelzbro tasting. Not testing any waters here, just a legit question. Would some nice vintage lambic be realistic here, or would this take heavy Cantillon ammo? Cheers!
The list in this thread is not a final authority, but it might give you an idea of the value of BA PiaPT compared to similarly scarce beers: http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/community-white-whale-thread-2013.111484/ Some additional info: BA PiaPT was never really available for purchase. A single bottle was given out to each of the first 250 people who signed up for the first year of the Bruery Reserve Society. It will likely be a very tough bottle to trade for.
I have a couple of these, and it took quite a bit to land them. It would take more than vintage shelf Cantillon for me to let go of one of mine.
Obviously Heard of the whale list. Just not sure where to place it based on its fairly low-ish position judging by how little I actually hear of it. Thanks for the tips!
it's a biggie. in my experience your best bet is to buy a regular partridge on ebay for a friend and hope the seller doesn't know it's actually a BA version when they mail it to you (fo real, shit happened). In all honesty, though, anybody that still has that beer likely really wants to hold onto it (or they wouldn't have). I would think it would take far and away more than b1 CR or BT. Heavy Sour ammo should get it done, though, sours are en vogue. (FD: i don't have one)
I think it's too low on the community white whale list and would trade a lot higher than many bottles listed above it. Disclaimer - don't have one and don't want one.
Given your location, if you really want it I'm guessing the easiest would be something like Blabaer 750ml + 50N4E, although that might not even work. 2 x Blabaer 750ml probably would though.
I think there's more Blabaer on your shores than there is here And I wouldn't dream of setting people up with Blab. After finally trying it last weekend I'd have to say it's up there with regular non-BA Dark Lord as the most overhyped disappointment of a beer I've ever had.
Bottles went to the first 250 people to sign up for the reserve society in 2009 but actual bottles made is about 500. Also, this was in the bruery's infancy and they had many bottles that were low fills. These low fills were given out freely and some people got over 6 bottles.
Really? I thought those low-fill bottles stayed at The Bruery and got opened on special occasions. I've seen them at Black Tuesday events and early anniversary parties. Not doubting you, I just hadn't heard of them being "given out freely."
I actually have the set to date, and I can tell you it cost a lot to complete the PiaPT.... I heard as much as 400 via *.com
