I've been to Portland many times but never to Bangor - and a quick search of area breweries confirms I don't know anything about this area!

Any breweries or restaurants you'd like to recommend? I do love a good hazy but I also like more traditional styles. I don't tend to drink many sours but I'm open to trying them.

I hate it when folks don't answer the question as asked but, anyway, here I go...

Mast Landing and Maine Beer are both easy-peasy off 295 on the way up. We usually stop at Mast Landing for pours and fish tacos at Nighthawks Kitchen then pop across the only-slightly-dangerous intersection into MBC's back lot for enough of those over-priced 500ml bottles to see us through.

FWIW Bangor has Sea Dog and Orono Brewing - the brews themselves are nothing to write home about but Sea Dog at least has a nice taproom on the river and better than decent food.

We have a good food and good beer at Mason's Brewing.

Thanks guys. This was kind of my dilemma. There were a few places I wanted to try that weren't far away at all, but nothing I've heard of in Bangor. This trip isn't a beer adventure, per se, but I decided to hit up the places I've been meaning to go to nearby rather than concentrating on Biddeford.

I'm at Sacred Profane on our way up from RI and will probably hit Modest Man and Belleflower too. Oh my God, I wasn't prepared for how delicious their layered dark/light could be!

We don't get to Bangor often but I was impressed by Mason's Brewing right across the river in Brewer the last time we were there. Not 5.0 beer or food but both solid 4.0+. Dog friendly patio. We had a very nice stroll after dinner on the river path.
