I am going to be in Chicago around the 18th of October to see some live music and search for beers I have yet to try. Anybody have any recs. or anybody want to hang out and grab a few beers?

Hey Pandy_Fackler, I hope you enjoy your trip to the beautiful city of Chicago.

I have a few beer recommendations at most any local bar:
Revolution Anti-Hero (excellent IPA) - found at most bars and liquor stores
Half Acre Daisy Cutter (excellent APA) - found at most bars and liquor stores
Half Acre Akari Shogun (great wheat APA) - harder to find but get it if it's on tap
3 Floyds Gumballhead can be found on tap at several city bars; it's an easy to drink wheat APA

Pipeworks and 3 Floyds are sold at Binny's.

I'd recommend Twisted Spoke, Bangers & Lace and Hopleaf for a bars with good beers on tap with some local offerings for you to try.

I'd be happy to join, but I'm in the burbs and travelling to the city on weekends has been BRUTAL this year with construction. Have an awesome trip, feel free to PM me if you have any questions...I'm pretty familiar with the city.

I have had the Gumballhead but I will check out the other beers! I plan on swinging by the Map Room but I am definitely on a quest to bring some Zombie Dust back for my friends in the Tetons. If you change your mind about coming into the city I can get you on the guest list for my friends show at the Tonic Room. They are amazing Americana/progressive bluegrass band from the north shore of Lake Tahoe

Thanks, I have only had Zombie dust once and really enjoyed it. How far out of the city is Three Floyds? 45 min.?

The band sounds right up my alley, I'll let you know! Also, left off W. Lakeview Liquors which has an awesome selection of brews local and otherwise. Best bet for Zombie Dust is probably giving Binny's a ring before you go. I've had a hard time finding it lately. 3 Floyd's is anywhere between a 3-5 hour round trip including traffic, sitting in line and depending upon where you're staying in the city. You'll note that they don't always have it available in 6-packs on location...but they do have it on tap at the brew pub typically.

If you decide to drive to 3F, give them a call before or check their website to see what beers they have available that day. Zombie dust is released on either Wednesday or Thursdays and almost always sells out the same day.
