I'm going to be in Charlotte from tomorrow afternoon until around noon Saturday...Any reccomendations on where I should go to pick up some brews, and anything to pick up? I live just outside of DC to give you an idea of what I have access to.

Second the above. Salud Beer Shop in Noda is awesome. Maybe a drive to Frugal MacDoogal in Fort Mill, SC for some Westbrook?

Third for the above...I'd make a special stop just to try it on draft

Hop Drop is a very good suggestion. I'm glad my local shop is bringing it up to Winston. I only rarely make it to Charlotte, but when I'm down there always like to stop in at Brawley's.

    Old hickory event horizon
    Noda jam session
    Birdsong honey pie (draft only)
    Birdsong mexicali stout (draft only)
Wicked weed freak of nature ( duckworths has on draft)
Highland cold mountain (duckworths has still)
    Foothills bbl peoples porter
    Triple c 3c ipa
Like others have said, make a quick run over the border to pick up westbrook from frugal mcdougals. Hit Brawleys and duckworths first and then frugals is about a 15 minute drive from there.

OMB and NoDa are pretty close to each other so definitely check those out as already recommended and I don't think Birdsong is too far away either. If you go to Duckworth's go to the one in Ballantyne, they have a lot more taps.

It's already been said, but definitely check out NoDa and Olde Mecklenburg Brewery (OMB). Two completely different style breweries, but both make fantastic beer, and they're decently close to each other so you should be able to easily visit both. Hop Drop n' Roll is a must try at NoDa, but they're other beers are pretty kick ass as well. Plus they both offer bottles/cans to go, and NoDa has some pretty cool can artwork too if you're into that sort of thing!

As far as shops, it's alreadys been said, but make sure you stop by Brawley's! It's also fairly close to NoDa and OMB.

Brawley's, Salud, or Good Bottle for take-home. NoDa and Birdsong for breweries - they're across the parking lot from each other and Salud is just up the street.

NoDa also has Imperial Hop, Drop & Roll and Imperial Coco Loco on tap right now. Awesome beers!

The way I read that you could possibly have a few beers before the CFD exam...I'd highly recommend against that, I have worked in EMS here for 27 years and know a lot of the people at the CFD Academy, I'd guess the odor of alcohol would not go good...but maybe I misread that.

Anyway, home you have a good time and good luck on the exam.

Yeah I ended up drinking some last night so I'm sticking to bottles only today.
