I'll be in Dover for Firefly and for an extra day afterwards so I can just spend the day in the area. I've seen Restaurant 55 and it seems to get quite a bit of praise, so I might go there, BUT it looks really burger-centric and my girlfriend's not a fan.

What else is there for food? Any beer stores I ought to visit? Using SeekABrew, I didn't see any "must try" breweries, but then again I didn't recognize a number of them...

If you are flying into PHL, Tired Hands is about 25 minutes off of the route from PHL to Dover. Worth the trip.

Extra day after, hit Rehoboth, enjoy the beach and the Dogfish Brewpub, stop at Missipillion River on the way up north.

Restaurant 55 has more than burgers...just saying. Mispilliion is a good idea as DFH can be mobbed. Go to DFH Brewery it's closer than the pub. Cantwell Tavern up in Odessa. Blue Earl in Smyrna....

I'll be driving. I'm a little north of Detroit. Will be stopping in Cedar Point, staying, then going to Dover on Wednesday.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll have this thread bookmarked for when I go. I'll be sure to reply back in late June to let you all know if you disappointed me or not.

    This!

But also hit the Dogfish Head brewery, not too far (20 min.). Also Atlantic Liquors & Outlet Liquors both on Route 1 (either going or coming to from the brewery to the brewpub), as they have a decent selcetion of bottles.

    Thanks Barracudas.

Does anyone know of canned beer from Delaware or canned beers that I could get in Delaware that I should pick up? Obviously, no glass allowed at the festival.

FYI there is also a firefly craft beer group on facebook. i went to firefly the past couple years and used this to meet up and share beers etc. also highly suggest tired hands on the way down. grab some growlers beforehand as well...they say no glass but it's very much not enforced.

Mispillion River is available in cans. As for who distributes in DE that's available in cans:

    Oskar Blues
    Neshaminy Creek
    Six Point
    Bells
    Troegs
    Victory
    21st Amendment
    Burley Oak
    Firestone Walker
    Goose Island
    New Belgium
    Otter Creek
    Sierra Nevada
    Sly Fox

Sly Fox packages some of their beers in cans that act more like a "glass" to get more aroma.

I'm not sure which direction you are coming into Delaware, but one of the best bottle shops in the country is about an hour North of Dover. State Line Liquors on Elkton, MD.

Awesome! I've seen these cans before but never tried one before. I'll be on the lookout.

I'll be coming in from the east... I WISH I was coming from the north so I could get me some Heady Topper.

Those cans actually aren't available in DE (or NJ for that matter) - they're illegal due to the size of the "pull-tab" on the can. It's an old litter law that's still on the books

Interesting, that's the first I've heard that. Well they are definitely sold in PA.

Actually they don't list DE at all on there distribution list. Only PA, NJ, NY, MD, VA and DC

    Wait, huh?

Unless you're taking the ferry from Cape May, east is the only direction you CAN'T come from to get into Delaware. From Detroit, you're either going to be coming from the North (Route 1 from the I-95 corridor) or West (Route 50 bridge at Annapolis).
