Hi guys, I'll be headed to Pagosa Springs for a solid week starting on Friday and I was wondering what breweries I should make stops to? I will have a car and can probably drive an hour or hour and a half to go to places. If there's any bottle shops around I would love to know that as well. I'm from Texas so I'm hoping Casey gets distribution pretty well. Thanks!
Pagosa has three that I know of: Pagosa Brewing Company, Riff Raff, and Wolfe Brewing. Last time I was in Pagosa, Pagosa Brewing was only one there. They were good; friends say Riff Raff is good and since Pagosa isn't very big, I'd hit all three. Further west is Durango and there's plenty of good breweries there if you want to make the drive.
Many Denver-area Old Chicago locations carry Riff Raff's beers and they're usually quite good. Everything I've had from Pagosa has been good, too. I'd hit those two up just based upon that.
There's a bottle shop I stumbled upon on my way back from NM on the east side of the entrance to town, and they had a bunch of surprising bottles collecting dust. I think I bought the rest of their old stock of Bruery Sour in the Rye...but I'd definitely check in there.
I'm in Durango and make the trip over to Pagosa a few times a year. I'd suggest hitting Riff Raff and Pagosa brewing for sure. I have yet to stop in to Wolfe, but I have tasted a few of their beers at festivals and wasn't real impressed (although it's hard to judge a brewery solely on festival beers).
Thanks guys. Appreciate it. I plan on going to Durango as well. Probably gonna make the 5 hour drive to Casey as well. That Jammy is enticing.
I am going to arrive in Pagosa on Christmas Day and be there for about 10 days. Would love to know what you find CreekoftheDead.
