City beer store is defiantly a great one stop shop as far as selection. If your looking to sit down and grab a beer, Toronado in lower Haight is legendary.

He's not gonna have much free time, and Beer Rev doesn't have anything in bottles you can't find at City Beer/Healthy Spirits/Whole Foods SF. It'd be a great place to grab a beer and some bottles, but it's not exactly down the street.

Didn't read the 'not much free time ' part. My bad. Agree if you're pressed for time it's probably not worth the trip. I really enjoy city beer but find the rev to be a much more enjoyable spot, and the bottle prices are generally a lot better.

Agreed and I live in SF, though I am swallowing my pride a bit to score some Alpine there tonight.
