Hey guys, I'm headed down to STL next week and I'm looking to visit Perennial and Side Project and I am so confused. Can any natives help me out with the workings of SP? Their website is quite unhelpful in terms of hours and taps/bottle list and what not. Is there a link to any of this info anyone knows about, I tried FB too. Thanks for the help, I dont want to miss out!
Cory runs it out of Perennial. there MAAAAY be some bottles at Perennial for only on site consumption however by all means expect to find nothing.
so there isn't a separate taproom for side project or anything of that sort lol? If not that is super disappointing
No. Your best bet is to arrange a trade with a local. SP either plans releases that get people camping out, or does local only, announced day of releases, and those are sold out in hours.
There will be no bottles of side project at perennial. you can stop by perennial, I would recommend it, and still have fantastic beer. they give tours Saturday at 2pm I believe. I would also hit 4 hands and civil life. try to pick up some 2nd shift.
If you like German beers, I highly recommend Urban Chestnut while you're in town. I wish I had more hands so I could give that place 4 thumbs up
If you don't have much time you can hit one of the ITAP locations (International Tap House) or the Bridge Tap House and try selections from multiple local breweries. Might want to check out the Wine & Cheese Place or Craft Beer Cellar in Clayton as far as bottle shops go. I haven't made it to the latter one,but it sounds awesome.
Oh and bring some of that Zombie Dust, Permanent Funeral, Arctic Panzer Wolf with you and you'll make friends quickly!
Just to piggyback on this thread since it is up here....what are some good gastropubs to eat at? Good food, $10-20 per entree range, does not need a crazy tap list but a good one is fine. Suggestions?
I'm a big fan of Quincy Street Bistro. It's not far from Perennial and this place is getting a lot of buzz. The chef was named chef of the year by the local paper last year and was a James Beard rising star nominee. Food there falls right in your range and they have a decent tap and bottle list. Other places to check out: Dressel's, Shaved Duck, either Schlafly location, Mission Taco Joint, The Good Pie. All of these places have great food that won't break the bank and nice beer lists. Another option is to visit any of the iTap locations in town and bring in food from a nearby place. If you're at the Soulard location, Bogart's (BBQ) is a must. The Central West End location has Tortillaria just a few doors down. Chesterfield is probably out of the way from wherever you will be and I don't go there often so I'm not as familiar with the food options there, but there is a BBQ place nearby. There's lots of great food options in STL and very few places with good food don't have craft beer options and most have a good variety of local breweries. Enjoy your visit.
I like Dressels a lot and can't reccomend it enough Though not a gastropub Katies Pizza and Pasta (Manchester in Rock Hill, NOT Clayton Rd location) has great food and beer
If you are in town June 13th-14th a better idea might be to check out the St Louis Brewers Guild Heritage Festival. 23 local breweries and over 100 beers. http://stlbg.com/heritage-festival/
Actually, a lot of places in STL are cool with it. If you're in town next Wednesday (6/11) there is a bottle share at 4 Hands that starts around 7pm. Happens the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month. Perennial releases a new beer every Thursday at 6pm and people usually bring bottles to share as well. I hope this goes without saying, but buy a beer or food from the place and tip the bartender well and share some of the beer with them.
I work at a bat and I love to share beer. Places in IN are not cool with it tho. Thanks for the heads up! I'll prolly bein some port wee Mac down for sure. Thanks for the heads up!
