I've never had an apple brandy aged beer and I really want to try one. I have no hopes of landing any of the "whales" that are apple brandy aged so I'm curious if there are any beer advocates that know of apple brandy aged beers available in your area. A quick search of the site returned a long list of beers that look to be retired or one off beers that are/were probably just available on tap.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Look for J. W. Lees Havest Ale (an English Barleywine) aged in Calvados Barrels. Comes in 9.3 oz bottles but at almost 12% ABV and as sweet as it is that's probably more than enough for a single serving.

Also expect to pay about $10-12 a bottle for it since it is both expensive to make it and to age it in those barrels.

Voodoo has released several beers (Big Black Voodoo Daddy, Black Maigck, Grand Met, etc) that were aged in Laird's Apple Brandy Barrels. However these were limited releases from their "Barrel Room Collection" that were only sold at the brewery and at some release events in the Philly suburbs if I remember correctly.

I have to say I am in the same boat as you on this, never had one but eager to try. With all the bourbon BA's out there, it would be nice to try something a little different. I know there are some breweries out there experimenting with tequila and rum BA as well.

Just got one in to the store: Naked Brewing's Gentleman (Imperial Stout at 10%). Finish in apple brandy. It's in my hoard, I've not bought it or tried it... yet. November is a new beer budget.

man i loved the imperial 3 pack. the rum barrel aged smoke from the oak was perfection. apple brandy and wine both great. i still use the glass from that thing.

and yeah, OP, golden delicious. i see it in every whole foods here in manhattan. i love it. have converted non-beer drinkers with it.

Great South Bay Apple Brandy Barrel Aged Dirty Deeds was great. RIS for their 4th anniversary. On draft and the 400 bottles that sold out at brewery. Glad I got some bottles. This probably won't help the OP, unfortunately.

Funky Buddha just released Triple Tripel (Barrel-Aged Tripel Lindy) This Belgian-style ale was aged in Apple Brandy, Bourbon, and Rye Whiskey barrels and then blended together. Im not a big fan of tripel but this was pretty tasty and I know that a bunch of it is up for trade here

Lakefront makes a Brandy Barrel Aged Imperial Pumpkin Lager. I am not a big fan of pumpkin beers but this beer was excellent.
