    Hey all,

I was curious what are some really good & readily available sours I can just go pick up off the shelves? I hear many great things about Casey but I don't think they are very easy to find. Can you name a few that you really like that are easily found?

    Cheers,

    Davey

Do you have any parameters other than "sour"? Colorado? Barrel-aged? Kettle? There is a lot of really good stuff around.

Some of the Casey Fruit Stand cherries and the base saison are around Denver.

Casey beers really aren't sour. You should be able to find Crooked Stave, Trve and some Black Project fairly easy.

I don't know personally since I'm not a sour fan, but my trade guy loved the Trve Restarter I sent him.

Ah yes I have no preference what part of the country they come from. I definitely prefer barrel aged..

Also forgot to mention I like fruited sours/beers over Brett. They don't have to be mouth puckering either just a nice fruit taste with a hint of sour. Hope that all makes sense

TRVE and Crooked Stave. Some Caseys are sour (Cut and Oak Theory), but those typically aren't the ones that make it to normal retail.

If you're down for fruited kettle sours, Acidulous is making some pretty tasty stuff readily available in cans. Enjoyed their "sour wheat ale with kiwi" and also "with blackberries."

Funkwerks provincial series are all kettle soured and pretty damned tasty, no barrel though.

In addition to the local options mentioned above, I have seen a bunch of Rodenbach around Denver recently. I highly recommend the grand cru or Alexander.

Any of you have anything from Atom brewing?

Stuff I've really enjoyed have been

Supplication, temptation, consecration, la folie, le terror, a few of the almanacs family resevere and dog patch I forget the exact ones I had. Avery Raspberry sour.

I see cascade all over the place but at $30+ I could never pull the trigger.

If the Casey beers aren't sours then what are the considered? I'm asking not to be a smart ass. I really don't know or have I tried any Casey but want too because I hear so many good things about them.

Thanks to all that have suggested stuff. Much appreciated

I thoroughly enjoy their Arlo and Maggie (draft only) farmhouse ales. Need to pick up some of their other offerings.

Others I have loved but not sure what they are considered really?

    New Glarus

    Cran-bic
    Apple ale
    Raspberry tart
    Belgian red

Are these sours. Wild ales, lambics?

As someone who enjoys cracking a few sour beers on a warm day without breaking the bank, I am happy to throw down $9 for a sixer of Dry Dock Apricot Sour. Tasty stuff.

I've had it on tap at The Old Mine. Think one or two kegs might have made it elsewhere as well, but I could be making stuff up. Good stuff.
